Can't access Google? in IT Support ·
Unbelievable, you actually nailed it.
I had a pro technician handle the Windows installation, and everything was running like a dream—except for that Google issue.
Just checked the system clock, and turns out the date was stuck back in January 2009.
Fixed the settings, and now everything is working perfectly.
Man, I never would have even thought to check that.
Thanks

I’ve honestly never run into anything quite like this before.
My sister dropped off a laptop at my place that had a fresh install of Windows 7 on it, so I started getting everything set up—just the basic essentials, you know?
Next on the list was Mozilla Firefox. Everything seems to be running fine, but the second I try to pull up Google, it just hits a wall. It won't load the page at all; instead, I just get this error message popping up at the bottom.
The weird part is, it’s doing the exact same thing when I try to use Internet Explorer.
Anyone have any clue what might be causing this?

There's a whole long explanation as to why that's the smartest move, but I won't drag you through it.

Man, you're a real genius, aren't you? Giving out answers like that.
What are you even talking about? You don't have a clue what's actually going on here. Maybe the kid just fell in with a bad crowd, which is probably why the parent is asking in the first place.

Or maybe we're talking about an elderly person who keeps wandering off.

Look, it doesn't matter to me what his intentions are—if he asked me, I’d be more than happy to help him out.

Yeah, I know about that site http://www.malioglasnik.org/predaja-oglasa, but the link I actually sent you was for http://malioglasnik.com/
I’ve been poking around there, and honestly, I don't see any way to actually post an ad

I stumbled upon this page for submitting ads, but I can't for the life of me find where to actually register to get an ad posted.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Maybe I'm just being blind here, but I'm totally missing
it.
Issues with my new laptop? in Hardware ·
I just grabbed the official drivers straight from the manufacturer's site and everything's running smoothly now.
Thanks
Issues with my new laptop? in Hardware ·
My laptop only grabs an internet connection when I'm practically sitting on top of the router—like, one meter away—and even then, I’m barely getting a single bar of signal. The second I move an inch away, the connection just dies completely.
I'm not out here manually hunting down drivers or anything; Windows 7 usually handles all that installation stuff on its own.

We even swapped out two different HDMI cables to troubleshoot, but we're still hitting the exact same wall.
Issues with my new laptop? in Hardware ·
So, a buddy of mine picked up a Dell Latitude about five days ago, and I just finished getting Windows 7 Professional set up on it yesterday.
Right out of the gate, we’re hitting two major snags.
1 - Our router is sitting in the living room, and when I took the laptop into the bedroom—only about 20 feet away—it claimed there was absolutely no wireless connection available. If I lug the thing right next to the router, maybe half a foot away, it finally connects, but the signal strength is pathetic, just one lonely little bar.
We actually took the laptop over to a friend's place to test it, and it’s the exact same story; even standing by his router, the signal is weak, and the second you move a few feet away, the wireless connection just vanishes.
2 - Then there's the TV issue. We tried hooking the laptop up to a brand-new smart TV using an HDMI cable—tried both HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 ports—but it just keeps flashing "no signal."
And yeah, the same thing happens when we try it on my friend's TV too.

In our house, we have three different laptops, and they all work perfectly fine; you plug them into the TV via HDMI and the screen pops up instantly.
Anyone have any idea what might be going on here?
Running my own web server?? in IT Support ·
Uuuuu, so now my neighbor is telling me this isn't a great move for hosting my own sites because the whole thing only stays live as long as my computer is running.
Basically, he's saying I'd have to leave my rig powered on 24/7 just so people can actually access the pages.
Is that actually how it works, or is he just talking nonsense?
Running my own web server?? in IT Support ·
I see people tossing around the term "self-hosted web server" all over the internet lately, but I’m still a bit fuzzy on what the actual point is.
If I were to set up my own server from scratch—say, using something like Apache—what would I actually be able to do with it?
From what I gather, I could basically just upload and store my own files there.
But what I’m really wondering is, could I also host a website I built myself, maybe something made in WordPress?
How do I download online videos? in IT Support ·
That sounds great, though I’d much rather handle all this through Chrome.
Does that whole path—"Control Panel / Internet options / General / Browsing history / View object"—actually apply to Chrome too?

Head over to the site and start playing the movie. Once the entire progress bar on the player finishes loading, hit up the Control Panel / Internet options / General / Browsing history / View object. From there, you can dig through the file cache to find the actual video file. Just a heads-up, this assumes you’re using Internet Explorer.

That's an interesting workaround, actually. So, basically, I just sit there waiting for the whole thing to buffer before checking the browsing history?

Just use a torrent like any sane person would instead of messing around with those trashy streaming sites.

Torrenting isn't always the answer, man. Half the animated stuff on that specific site doesn't even exist on any major torrent tracker out there.
Take a look at this site

So, I stumbled onto this site where you can stream movies online, and now I’m wondering if there's actually a way to grab the file and download it directly.
I gave it a shot in Firefox using a few different plugins—tried stuff like Flash Video Downloader and Video DownloadHelper—but honestly, nothing is working. It just won't pull anything down.
Does anyone know of a specific program out there that can actually snag any video playing on a screen?
Outlook login failed, error code? in IT Support ·
Man, if only I actually knew how to get this thing configured properly.
Is there anyone out there who actually uses AOL Instant Messenger and can walk me through how they set everything up?
Outlook login failed, error code? in IT Support ·
I'm a bit stuck here. After I click ADD , instead of seeing that third step window 'Let me configure settings myself', it just jumps straight to the fourth step—the one where you're supposed to pick between Hotmail, Google, and the rest.
I'm running version Outlook plus 2.5
Outlook login failed, error code? in IT Support ·
So, I set up Outlook thinking it was going to be a total game-changer, but man, was I wrong. It’s been a bit of a letdown so far.
I punched in all my credentials for my Hotmail account, but for some reason, it just refuses to connect. I keep getting hit with this "login failed" error message, even though I’ve double-checked everything—username, password, the whole nine yards. They're definitely right.
And get this, it’s doing the exact same thing with my other Hotmail account too.
Anyone have any idea what might be causing this headache?
Here’s a shot of how my settings look in the properties window.

Printer stopped working after ink change? in IT Support ·
Managed to pull myself out of the woods there—thankfully didn't end up hauling it all the way to a repair shop. It's actually working again.
Basically, I held down the reset button for about five seconds, fired up the HP Service Tool, and just like that, we were back in business.

A buddy of mine uses the exact same HP Envy 5000 and he’s been swapping in third-party ink for ages without a single hiccup.
I stumbled upon some info over here, though I'm honestly not sure if it'll actually do me any good.
Printer stopped working after ink change? in IT Support ·
So, I’ve got this HP Envy 5000, and a few days back, the black ink started coming out super faded—though the colors were still looking fine. I figured I'd just swap out the black cartridge for a refilled one, but as soon as I did that, the whole thing just quit on me. Now it won't print anything at all, not even color.
I tried putting the old cartridge back in, hoping to at least get back to where I was, but nope—still nothing. Total silence from the machine, even though the colors were working perfectly before the headache started.
Honestly, I'm losing my mind here. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it back to its previous state, when at least the color was decent and only the black was acting up.
I'm attaching some screenshots of the error messages popping up on my screen.
