I am experiencing the exact same issue... A few days ago, I took an old relic down to a local repair shop to see if we could get it somewhat functional for web browsing. It’s just not happening, regardless of what I try... The hardware is simply too obsolete to run anything smoothly. 🤷
Take a look at your Maiden Manager to see if there are any yellow exclamation marks. Also, download this program to check what your internal temperatures are looking like...
Of course it works... especially when I'm running older games. Basically, you install the software like usual, then launch it using the method I mentioned above. Right-click the program icon, go to properties, select compatibility, and check the box to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP sp3. Hit apply and okay. That should do it...
Right-click the program icon and select Properties. Navigate to the Compatibility tab, where you will find the option to "run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP." Check that box, save your changes, and then try launching it...
It’s a joke, really. These bookmark enthusiasts have been saying the same thing for years... Since I reinstall Windows every few months on both my desktop and my laptop, I was genuinely baffled by the mess. My first thought was that syncing the same profile across all my devices was the culprit, but even using a single account yields the exact same result... I even reached out to an old colleague over at Google, but he couldn't make heads or tails of it either. 🤷
Just set the money aside and stop worrying about it... The principle is no different than saving up for a new iPhone. You should probably find a technician to install Windows and get your laptop ready for use, too. 🙂 By the way, regarding the charging time... let's say about 8 hours for the first few cycles. After that, you'll likely need closer to 3 or 4 hours. And of course, you can use it while it's plugged in, though that's a moot point when you don't have an operating system installed yet...
Good grief, do you keep the devil in your refrigerator or something? 👍 On a serious note, did this issue start right after you swapped out the motherboard and the GPU? I suspect the older components might not be playing nice with the new hardware... 🤔
Does your PC freeze during specific tasks, or is it just totally random? Listen, if I were you, I’d start by checking the temperatures of each component individually to see how they're holding up... one by one. Here's a link to a benchmarking tool.
It just occurred to me that I might have heard a similar sound once upon a time... during a system boot when you mash a key repeatedly. Memory is a fickle thing... 🙈
I suspect the issue lies with your monitor rather than Windows... there should be a physical button on the display itself to adjust this; you might want to check if you can disable it manually (though it really ought to happen automatically, but whatever)...
