How to get a therapist covered by insurance? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Eric Ortiz4 said:Just like the title says:
is there any way to get a referral from a doctor so I don't have to shell out cash at a private clinic?
🕺

Well, technically, yes, you can 🙂.

I’ve actually already gone through seven sessions with my own psychologist 🙂.

You just head over to your primary care physician—and honestly, it doesn't even have to be your regular doctor—and ask them for a referral to a psychologist. Simple as that!

Edit:

Oops, I just realized what you're actually asking...

I don't think that's going to work.

You're looking for a way to use an insurance referral to see a private practitioner without having to foot the bill yourself, right?

From what I understand, that isn't really how the system works here in the States.

Anything strictly private usually requires payment—though, in my experience, "private" doesn't always mean "better"...
It seems to be happening across every single sector, unfortunately...
Honestly, I’m really looking forward to picking up a brand-new computer 🙂 . I have absolutely zero interest in buying anything used 🙂 . Since I already have a few decent pre-owned components lying around...
I’ve been looking everything over here, and I honestly think this could be the one 🙂 .

If only someone would just help me piece together the rest of the build—then everything would be absolutely perfect 🙂 .

The Intel Core i5-8400 is such a solid choice 🙂 !
Hey everyone!

I’m looking to pull the trigger on a new computer pretty soon, and I wanted to get some advice on what kind of specs I should be aiming for—specifically so I can run things smoothly without any hiccups (I'm talking high settings, full 3D match engines, massive player databases, etc.) for FIFA 16, FIFA 17, FIFA 18, and whatever future versions might come our way...

Do you think I could pick up a rig like that in the $90 - $120 range?

Just to clarify, I’m not interested in heavy hitters like Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto V—my heart is set entirely on Sports Illustrated 🙂.

Why would anyone even want to live forever?

Total disaster. 👎

I kind of feel bad for people who can't let go of this world and just want more...

That’s great. If you're so eager, go ahead and do it right now—nobody's stopping you.

As for me, I actually want to live!

Death isn't some natural part of life—honestly, I’m just holding out for the day we finally discover a cure for mortality itself.

I actually stumbled upon this absolutely brilliant video on YouTube about the whole subject 🙂 .

That said, if we're going to have that conversation, a thread dedicated specifically to 'Toxic Parents' would be way more appropriate than this one.

Honestly, if you're worried about straying off-topic or catching a ban, you really don't need to stress—believe me.

This conversation belongs right where it should be: in the "toxic parent" section.

After all, pretty much everything we ever learn about how to love others... we learn from our parents.

Donna White50 said:At the end of the day, we’re all just looking for love and some attention—it's basic human nature. Plus, we've got those biological drives, obviously. When someone gets cut off from what feels like a normal, functioning life in society, they're bound to get frustrated... feeling worthless, rejected, or even depressed because it feels like they haven't really "made it" in life.
Nowadays, you see this whole crowd of young guys just sitting at home, grinding on video games or watching porn, basically having zero hope of finding real emotional or physical connections. They lack any kind of life perspective, steady jobs, or actual purpose—they're honestly just ticking time bombs. On the flip side, you have girls struggling to find anyone who actually fits, often getting caught up in these massive insecurities about their looks or worth, and it’s just a mess. Psychologists are probably making a killing lately treating people for the fallout of modern life and questionable parenting...

Now, I wouldn't say it's a huge majority—I'd probably estimate it at maybe 2% to 3% of the population.

Which, let's be real, isn't exactly a tiny number either, even if it doesn't sound overwhelming at first glance.

I actually went as far as asking my psychotherapist if there were support groups similar to those for domestic abuse survivors or people in recovery—you know, places where those of us who grew up with a toxic parent could gather to share experiences—but he told me no such thing exists yet, simply because it's still such a taboo subject to discuss openly.

It really is quite sad...
Do you think I could actually launch my own "Winston Smith - Resurrection" theme?

I honestly feel like it would be an absolute sensation from day one...

Just imagine—taking that whole Winston Smith concept and weaving it through this delicate tapestry of motherhood and grandmothers, dancing right on that razor's edge between life and death, freedom and incarceration 😁...

Wait, who is Amon?

What kind of work are we talking about here?

Is this your first gig, or have you been around the block a few times?

Honestly, I would give just about anything to be in the exact same shoes you're in right now!

Stop overthinking it and just go!

I mean, really—what is the absolute worst-case scenario waiting for you over there?

Not much, honestly... but on the flip side, there are a million incredible things that could happen instead!

JUST GO!!!

In that case, you should probably head over to the nearest clinic that handles rabies shots.

I mean, honestly, the odds are pretty slim since we're just talking about a tiny scratch—but if you're feeling anxious or if it's really eating at you, then yeah, just head straight to an urgent care center.

By the way, does this cat actually have an owner, or is it just a stray—you know, someone totally unknown?

Well, I've actually already been to see a doctor three times since this happened! I just walked out of my local community health center about half an hour ago... The woman who examined the wound (which, mind you, is smaller than a millimeter!) told me there's really no reason to worry—though she did suggest that if I'm feeling nervous, I could always follow up with my own primary care physician at his office 😵. Anyway, I'm headed back out on my adventure tomorrow 🙄... So, I might as well just relax while they sort everything out.

The cat doesn't have an owner, which is exactly why I went straight to the doctor right away.

I mean, if some random dog attacks you, sure, there’s a risk and you should probably get a shot.

Exactly 🙂.

And honestly, what the user above you is saying is basically what the doctor who first examined me told me 😲.

I really didn't want to start an argument with her, but seriously... is this really how people operate at a community health center? 🙂.

redotter95 said:Rabies has been practically wiped out here in America—honestly, I don't think there's been a single case recorded all year! I truly hope it stays that way...

If you happen to be in a major city like Chicago, just head over to a local community health center and have them evaluate whether you actually need the rabies shots. They'll ask you a few questions and take a look at the scratch, then they'll make the call on whether the vaccine is necessary.

Good luck!

Well, I'm actually from Canada.

You can ask for whatever you want, but whether those doctors actually decide to grant your little wishes and desires... well, that’s something you’ll only find out once you're face-to-face with them. 🍿

I’ve already been in to see them. Now, I’m actually planning on seeking out a fifth opinion.

Honestly, the first doctor I saw didn't even bother to physically examine my hand! She just told me to move it left and right so she could "see" where the scratch was. After that, she concluded there wasn't even a scratch—though there is one, it's just incredibly, incredibly tiny—so I just stood up, grabbed my paperwork and my medical file, and walked right out the door.

Afterward, I headed over to the local community health center to see if they could take a look at it too. Things were much better there, thankfully. I walked into the room where two technicians were working, and the older gentleman asked me what I needed, so I explained why I was there. He actually took my hand, moved it side to side, and reached the same conclusion—that he couldn't see anything on my hand—but he did give me some advice: he said if the wound suddenly turns red and starts swelling again, I should come back immediately to get an injection. And just like that, my second exam was over.

So now I'm wondering... did they totally mess this up? Is that even possible?

I mean, I can't exactly just disappear into thin air, can I? 👎👎👎 My God.

Good morning, everyone!

So, about two days ago, a little kitten gave me a tiny scratch—honestly, it was such a superficial nick that there’s barely even a mark left now... almost invisible, really.

That said, I can't help but wonder: what are the actual odds of catching rabies from something that minor?

Is there any real reason for me to be feeling anxious about this?

And most importantly, can I just head down to my local clinic and ask for the rabies vaccine on my own initiative without waiting for someone else to tell me to?

Thanks so much in advance for any insight you can share!

Just live your life! Honestly, people like those "friends" of yours are just clones—carbon copies of nothing special. You really don't need that kind of energy in your circle...
