Of course an obsessive thought carries its own weight—I mean, if it didn't have some sort of significance, it wouldn't be an obsession in the first place, right?
Basically, heterochromia is just a fancy way of saying someone has two different colored eyes—like having one green eye and one brown one! It all comes down to the amount of melanin pigment in the iris... whether there's a little too much or not quite enough. Sometimes you're born with it due to genetics or mosaicism, but occasionally, it can actually be caused by an injury or certain medical conditions...
Here are the different types:
Complete heterochromia: This is when the iris of one eye is a completely different color from the other eye... totally distinct!
Partial (sectoral) heterochromia: This happens when only a specific section or "slice" of the iris is a different color than the rest of that same eye. And this can show up in just one eye or even both!
Central heterochromia: This is a really striking look where the inner zone around the pupil is a different color than the outer part of the iris...
Only about 2% of people in the world have this unique trait.
The good news is that heterochromia isn't usually anything to worry about. It’s not considered an eye disease because it doesn't actually affect your vision at all!
A few famous faces out there rocking this look include Mila Kunis, Kate Bosworth, Josh Henderson, Elizabeth Berkley, and Alice Eve... among others!
So, now that I've given you all that background info, I'm dying to know—are there any fellow heterochromia owners here in the forum?
Carl Cox3 said:You are being lazy. Are you not afraid that you won't actually finish everything, but rather that you will simply remain idle and miss out on life? I recently read a book suggesting that one should focus exclusively on the most profitable tasks and only address anything else if time permits.
What is the point of studying three languages and taking those dance classes? Do you truly believe you will become a simultaneous interpreter for all three and make millions? And what about that Fax job you have held for ten years? Why bother when you will just move on to professional training for $667, followed by some tedious administrative role paying $4,000 or $5,000 a year? The Fax job is merely an entry point into white-collar work; the real money lies in SSS and the IT sector.
Rather than wasting time on pursuits that yield nothing, why not focus on video editing or something similar? Wouldn't that bring in a decent income and make your life much better?
Personally, I’m teaching myself how to code 🙂. I've been diving into Python and stuff like that... 🙂.
Patrick Reyes5 said:I’m 31. Or at least, I will be in a few months. Currently, I’m unemployed. I have some experience—temp work through the court system—which is my only official employment history. I’ve passed my professional certification exam, too. It’s not the work itself I dread; I just don’t want to spend the rest of my life scrubbing floors or cleaning hotel rooms (though I do currently clean under the table to get by).
And honestly? I’m terrified. I’m scared my mother is right when she says my career ceiling is a janitorial position. I’m scared it’s too late to ditch this dead-end path everyone keeps preaching about and actually enroll in a program I care about, like studying English Literature. I’m scared it’s too late to master the languages that actually interest me: French, Russian, and Turkish. I’m scared I’ll never get to spend a weekend in New York City, which is a massive dream of mine. I’m scared I won't master English well enough to pass an Oxford proficiency exam. I’m scared I’ll lose the few real friends I have left. I’m scared I won't be able to pick up video editing, even though I love the idea. I’m scared I’ll be the only one in my social circle with just a vocational degree, and people will assume I’m not as bright as them. I’m scared I’ll never land a job because I don’t have the right connections. I’m scared I’ll never find a partner or have children, especially since people keep telling me I'm "running out of time." I’m scared to cut my hair short; I’m tired of managing long hair just because I can tie it in a ponytail. I’m scared I won't have enough money and will always rely on my father, when I should be the one helping him. I’m scared to call the registrar at St. Louis to ask about transferring. I’m scared to call the gym and ask if they charge for demonstrating proper form like a private trainer would. I’m scared I’ll never learn to dance the tango. I’m scared I’ll never learn to sew my own clothes, since shopping isn't really my thing. I’m scared I’ll never find a chemical peel that helps with a small scar I have. I’m scared the marks from my skin-picking disorder will never fade. I’m scared I’ll never find the right skincare for my face. I’m even scared that I’ll never learn how to express myself better.
I am afraid that I will stay stuck exactly where I am forever, with nothing ever changing.
Most of all, I fear waking up one day to realize my life has passed me by while I was still sitting in this same spot—never having moved away, never having found a job (even on Mars), never having had kids, and never having accomplished a single thing I actually planned.
I’m scared there isn't enough time left to fix anything. I’m scared of how people will react if I try. I’m scared of everything.
How do I stop being afraid?
Hi there!
You and I are dealing with the exact same issue. We are both just terrified of living! We worry about this, we worry about that, we worry about absolutely everything. But why are we so afraid? We're afraid because our parents didn't step up and toughen us up when they should have, and they didn't help us grow into independent, strong individuals.
We're dependent on them, and that's a bond we have to break. It won't be easy, but believe me, it can be done.
You're 31. You are young! I truly believe you will overcome these fears 🙂 .
Physical discipline can be effective if it’s used correctly—provided it remains a tool rather than becoming the ultimate goal itself.
Furthermore, I truly believe it should always be the absolute last resort for any parent.
The reality is that in 99% of situations, hitting isn't actually necessary; what children really need is open communication and, most importantly, seeing a good example set by their parents—since kids naturally mimic what they see their parents doing every single day...
Honestly, it was probably for the best that you caught her off guard by leaving and moving out.
I feel like if you didn't grow up with parents like that, you wouldn't truly grasp what it's actually like to live under their roof—or just how far they're willing to go...
When my therapist asked me if I ever dealt with any particularly strange thoughts, I didn't hold back—I told him straight up that I frequently find myself fantasizing about taking out my enemies, only to have them somehow crawl back to life again and again...
He immediately scribbled something down in his notepad.
I never did get around to asking him exactly what he wrote...
It doesn't matter whether that individual was being polite to him or not.
You could be the kindest soul in the world to me—never lifting a finger to hurt my feelings—but if you go out of your way to intentionally cause trouble for someone else, then as far as I'm concerned, our relationship is over for good.
Let’s look at a little hypothetical scenario involving three people, whom I'll just call A, B, and C for simplicity...
Person A is always wonderful to Person B; they show love, they care, and they're incredibly supportive.
However, when it comes to Person C, Person A is incredibly rude—totally unprovoked—constantly looking for ways to cause them harm or put them in an embarrassing situation.
So, what should Person B do in this situation? Should they keep hanging out with Person A simply because they receive affection, even while watching Person A humiliate and attack Person C for absolutely no reason? Or should they cut ties with Person A because of how they treat Person C?
In my view, if Person B has even an ounce of respect for others, they really ought to walk away from Person A entirely.
You can't claim to love and respect me while simultaneously attacking someone else just because you feel like being a bully.
That’s just not how I operate.
Either you're a person of character, or you're just a total pushover—as they might say back in some small town in the Midwest...
You’ve actually given me a brilliant idea for a brand new thread 🙂 — I was just thinking about it! I’m really hoping the admins decide to move your post over to 🙂...
I honestly can’t wrap my head around why I still feel this nagging urge to seek my mom's approval before making even the smallest moves in my life.
Does anyone have any advice on how to break free from this cycle?
I’m really hoping to land a solid job soon—once that happens, I'll finally have the footing I need to start chasing my own goals and actually making things happen...
It sounds like we’re dealing with a very similar situation here. I honestly can't say for sure what your home life is like—if you even have parents around—but if you do, mine are absolutely toxic...
Surroundings really don't matter ☕ . You've got to do what you feel is right—not just follow whatever advice everyone else is throwing your way. At the end of the day, you're getting that degree for yourself, not for them . Best of luck!!!
P.S. I actually have a mother who isn't supportive of my choices either, but I haven't let that break my spirit—I'm out here fighting like a tiger 🙂 .
Maybe he should just enlist in some radical militia group—like ISIS or something? Now, please don't take this the wrong way, I really mean it—but when you're chasing a true passion, a genuine dream, and a lifelong goal, you have to keep every single door open 🙂. It sounds a bit wild, I know, but hey...
Why don't you consider becoming a military engineer? Honestly, I can't see that being much of a struggle for you—I mean, surely they aren't actually expecting engineers to be sprinting around doing endless pull-ups and sit-ups all day, am I mistaken there?!
