Hiatal hernia help/advice? in Health ·
My husband is dealing with the exact same thing—HH and Helicobacter p. on top of it. All the doctors ever say is that you just have to learn to live with it, or if things get really bad, surgery might be an option.
It’s garbage. Totally insufficient. It’s obvious that nothing works unless you actually take matters into your own hands...

I read somewhere that the Bowen technique helps with hernias.

http://www.grombol.com/pregled1.asp?kat=bowen%20tehnika

My husband hasn't tried it yet, so I can't tell you if it actually works. He’s probably just scared—he pulls that classic move where he says "we can't afford it," but then turns around and buys a new DVD player, a bunch of power tools, or a car polisher... he's just freaking out!

He drank raw potato juice for a while to help with the heartburn, and he claims it helped. There are two old-school recipes: 1. Cut the top off a raw potato, hollow out a little hole, fill it with a spoonful of sugar, put the top back on, and let it sit overnight so the sugar draws out the juice. Drink it on an empty stomach in the morning.
2. Grate some raw potato and squeeze out a bit of juice. Then, add 2 tablespoons of cold water and 2 tablespoons of warm water to 1 teaspoon of that juice and drink it. You can't let it sit too long. They don't specify the amount, but I've used about 4 or 5 teaspoons of juice.

Supposedly, strengthening your core and losing weight helps, so now my husband is doing sit-ups every single night...
Why do I keep attracting the wrong people? in Psychology ·
tince said:I want to know if there’s some underlying reason why a girl or woman like me keeps attracting low-quality people. Does this mean I'm actually a bad person myself? I constantly get approached by all sorts of losers—guys who aren't great, guys with massive complexes, frustrated types, creepy dudes, or just people with questionable characters... does this mean there's something wrong with me?

People love to spout that old cliché about how you chose your own karma in this life—like you're paying off debts from past lives just to learn some lesson so you can level up in the next incarnation. Whatever. For some reason, you attract these types, but that doesn't mean you have to let them into your life. I deal with this too; I frequently attract people who suffocate me, nag me, and drain my mental energy. Either I cut them off immediately, or if I can't, I just ignore them or hit back at their attitude and behavior to bring them back down to earth. Still, I haven't figured out how to fix myself (maybe it's my nasty ego?) to stop pulling these unwanted people toward me. Blah, blah, blah...
Getting a filling: what to expect? in Health ·
It really depends on whether the tooth under the filling is actually fine or not—though you’ll definitely need them to clean it out first. Personally, I didn't feel a thing when they buffed it down to prep for the new one. And look, you can always ask for local anesthesia. I don't know the exact price these days, but it shouldn't break the bank. Plus, if you're stuck with one of those old grey amalgam fillings, you can finally swap it out for a nice white composite. If you go through your insurance provider, it won't cost much; I went to $27 just a few days ago.
Just be brave and get it done. If I can handle it without any numbing—and trust me, I am a total wimp—then you can too.
Dealing with migraines at work in Health ·
Back when I was working, my doctor would write me off for migraines, but she’d always slap some other diagnosis on the paperwork. I guess they don't think migraines are a "real" enough reason to call out sick—though honestly, that seems to be changing lately.
Anyway, the weather shifts absolutely wreck me. Every time we get those humid, heavy heatwaves rolling in from the Gulf, I'm done for. I used to manage with one 20 mg Immigrant spray, but lately, I have to double up just to function.

My mom tried acupuncture because she deals with this too, but it did nothing for her. Then, a few months back, she went to see this holistic energy healer, and it actually worked. She gets them way less often now, and even when they hit, they aren't nearly as brutal—she can usually just power through them with a ton of caffeine and some Voltaren. I’m seriously considering seeing that guy myself. I am just exhausted. I've spent more than half my life dealing with these attacks. The worst part isn't even the pain; it's the constant fear of trying to plan anything in life. You never know when the migraine is going to knock you sideways. It makes you feel like a total invalid.

Natural vision correction! in Health ·
You can even grab those cheap plastic reading glasses to help with focus. There are some budget versions for like five bucks—you can find them at an Importane Center shop—but they're basically just cardboard quality... honestly, who knows. Though, I've heard that even the decent metal ones aren't actually that expensive.

Dr. Bieler's broth (allegedly) strengthens and cleanses the liver.

Dr. Bieler's Health Broth
Adapted from "Food is your best medicine" (see below)

Wonderful for a fall or winter detox: 3 stalks of celery, 3 whole zucchinis, 2 cups of string beans, 1 cup of parsley; Dr. Bieler's famous health broth recipe for energy

3 stalks of celery
3 whole zucchinis
2 cups of string beans
1 cup of parsley
Dr. Bieler's famous health broth recipe for energy, weight loss, and cleansing

put 1 cup of water into a stock pot. Throw the string beans in first and steam them for about 5 minutes. Next, toss in the celery and zucchini. Steam those for another 5 to 7 minutes—you want them tender, but they should still have some bite. Don't overcook them. Once they're ready, pour that vegetable cooking water directly into the blender. Add the veggies. Blend everything until it's liquid. Stir in a teaspoon of raw unsalted butter and a big handful of parsley. Blend one more time until the parsley is completely smooth.

*Optional: throw in 1 clove of garlic.

*Try to use organic vegetables if you can find them! Enjoy!
When you get burned... in Health ·
I remember reading somewhere once that lily oil is amazing for sunburns... personally, I just keep this random cream in my fridge that I got from my brother’s wife, who actually got it from some lady who used to whip up custom formulas at a local pharmacy. Anyway, the cream is ancient—we're talking years old—and the color has completely changed, but honestly? It still works wonders. Within a few hours, you can't even see the burn anymore. I have zero clue what's actually in it, though. Nobody does. But those ladies working behind the counter at the drugstore? They know how to mix up these legendary creams whenever they feel like it.

gentlewolf292 said:Yeah, same here.... Can you tell me where you go for treatment and how they plan to fix it!? Did you get any medication (painkillers)? How are you managing the pain?

I just pop some Voltaren during my period—otherwise, it’s just these sudden, sharp stabs of pain that last maybe ten seconds, so I don't really need pills. I'm actually heading in for surgery next week because it looks like things have already progressed. I'm going to Canada.
Most people try to handle this with hormone therapy. But honestly? That's just treating the symptoms, not the actual cause. They still don't even know what the root cause is.

gentlewolf292 said:Look, I get that everyone experiences pain differently, but I am honestly losing my mind. I’ve wasted so much time running to doctors and getting endless exams and conflicting opinions—I feel like I've had every single gynecological test under the sun! Can you tell me if you also get pain in your lower back? It feels like sharp stabbing pains right there. And does it hurt at any other time besides during your period?

During my period, it’s this long, dull ache that keeps switching back and forth with intense cramps. It feels like my entire lower half is just falling apart, and my legs go numb.
Otherwise, I get these sudden, sharp stabs at any point in my cycle—like someone is literally driving a spear through my pelvis. It feels like they're cutting straight through my pelvic bone and into my ovaries. With endometriosis, the pain probably depends on where that tissue is growing—whether it's pressing against nerves, blood vessels, or whatever else.
Unbearable hip pain—need help ASAP!!! in Health ·
gentlewolf292 said:First off, thanks for reaching out. 🙂
As for inflammation, I haven’t dealt with any actual inflammation for a long time—at least two or three years now. Before that, I used to deal with frequent UTIs and what doctors claimed were ovarian inflammations. This pain I'm feeling right now? It was there even before those issues cropped up. Regarding endometriosis, I have to admit it feels like the underlying cause behind everything, even if doctors have never given me a definitive, direct diagnosis.
Can you explain more about what you know regarding this and what your experience was like?

Unfortunately, the only way to actually confirm endometriosis for sure is through laparoscopy. About ten years ago, one doctor told me I had it on my ovary, then other doctors would say, "No, that's not it," and then others would say something else entirely... until it suddenly started getting worse. Now, it's showing up much clearer on a color Doppler ultrasound. At this point, a simple laparoscopy isn't enough anymore; I need a traditional open surgery because everything has become adhered to my pelvis.
I've also spent a lot of time reading stories online from women who were basically gaslit by their doctors. They were told the pain wasn't real because their tests came back clean, treated like they were just making things up in their heads, until someone finally performed an endoscopic/laparoscopic exam and saw the endometriosis right there.
The pain isn't the same for everyone. I occasionally get that sharp, stabbing sensation through my pelvis just like you described, but for me, it's brief and doesn't happen all that often.
Obviously, before jumping into laparoscopy—since that's major surgery—you have to rule out other stuff like spinal issues or kidney stones. No matter how strongly you feel that you need to switch doctors or get a second opinion, do it. Dig into the internet too. For example:

Chain said:Good grief, what kind of nonsense are you spewing... look, if you're so damn brilliant, why don't you go find some perfectly biocompatible material with properties identical to porcelain that doesn't have a single trace of weird additives. Besides, is anyone forcing you to even see a dentist? If everything is so toxic, why the hell do you even care? Just stop going to dentists altogether and do us—and yourself—a massive favor. Believe me, we are sick to death of people like you, and we only deal with your kind because we HAVE TO. Apparently, everyone who spent at least five years in medical school is a notorious moron and a mass murderer, while you and a handful of others (conspiracy nutjobs with an "everyone wants to kill me" attitude) are just so incredibly smart, trying to make an impression on the unrefined world with your little theories about bonding and filling various objects.
You have zero clue about medicine, and it honestly amazes me how you can even attempt to comment on subjects you have ABSOLUTELY no grasp of. You probably aren't even aware of the 500 different species of bacteria sitting in your mouth right now, any one of which could kill you if the numbers were slightly different, but that doesn't happen because of numerous factors, one of which is INFECTIOUS DOSE!!! That's right, go ahead and Google that and see what it actually means!! But of course, you wouldn't care about that. And that shirt you're wearing right now (or likely have in your closet) that was bought and imported from God knows where, dyed with synthetic colors containing ingredients that would poison you in large amounts if they touched your skin, but you don't care because you don't give a damn about microdosing. Well, if you don't care about microdosing, then why aren't you complaining about the elderly or your neighbors blasting cell phone radiation at you, which will surely knock you flat someday? Because clearly, the dose doesn't matter to you, as long as there's radiation. Why don't you file a lawsuit against everyone who has ever burned a trash pile near you? Since the dose isn't important, and they're all out to GET YOU!
And look at this, I just remembered... lead... do you even realize how dangerous that crap is to the body??? Go research it, and I'll tell you when you ingested a microdose of lead today, yesterday, or any day before that. Yet, somehow, by some miracle, you're still alive and posting garbage on this forum... Isn't that a miracle???

Chain, just calm down..... okay, you think I'm talking nonsense, blah blah, but just chill, because Ernest Hemingway said something very wise along the lines of: "for who should be vexed by human stupidity, unless he himself is not particularly gifted with intelligence."

The last thing I want to do is raise anyone's blood pressure, regardless of whether I actually care about them or not.....

Oh, yeah, someone mentioned DiamondLite as being a really good material for dental fillings... maybe you know more about that (you tell us, so I don't end up saying something stupid again).
...and you don't have to "deal" with anyone... I mean, did someone put a knife to your throat and tell you that you had to?!
Anyway, I'm out of this discussion because I really don't need this.....

Edward Sanchez72 said:Now you’re gonna tell me millions of people are suffering from mercury poisoning... Stop talking nonsense.

Because I’m dying to see how you’ll walk into a dentist's office and try to lecture them on how to do their job—telling them what to put in a kid's mouth while that kid is screaming in pain in the chair just wanting their tooth fixed. If that were me, I'd kick you right out of the clinic.
e!

I never made that first claim (yeah, yeah, "millions of people suffer..." )—so don't you dare put words in my mouth! Everyone reacts differently. Just because something doesn't hurt one person doesn't mean it isn't a catastrophe for someone else's health.

Fine, go ahead and kick me out. That's your call. You'll just lose patients that way. It's not the old days where people treated doctors like gods. If I seek help, it doesn't mean I have to leave my brain at home and swallow everything served to me. If I had been that gullible in the past, I could have done myself a massive disservice ("thanks to some dear, conscientious doctors").
And my child won't be screaming in a dentist's chair—because I sure as hell won't allow them to develop those kinds of dental problems in the first place.

I couldn't care less about micro-dosing or whether it's a little or a lot—I don't want any part of it. Why should toxic materials be in anyone's mouth at all, even if they claim those doses are non-toxic? It makes zero sense to me.
People used to say DDT was totally non-toxic too... and look how that turned out. Damn.

Edward Sanchez72 said:And how many actual articles or scientific papers on this topic have you even read? And I’m not talking about lobbyists for some random corporation, but real experts who write based on decades of hands-on experience (like in the case of dental amalgam). Because honestly, everything you wrote sounds like some college student who spent two months studying chemistry and now thinks they’re an expert on how these substances affect the body.

I’d bet I’ve read more than you have. But whatever. I have every right to refuse to let someone shove their nonsense down my throat (and not just about mercury—you could argue about dental issues for hours, but that’s not the point here).

I’m not some chemistry undergrad.

But go ahead. Prove to me that mercury isn't toxic (or the aluminum found in other types of fillings) to the human body. If you can do that, then fine, I'll admit I was wrong. I'll admit I was stupid. I'll apologize. I won't say another word...

Here are some links to chew on—for everyone looking to crucify Arsene. Even Jesus thought differently, and look how that turned out for him...

Honestly, Arsene, thank God the Inquisition is dead. People on this forum would probably love watching you burn at the stake, and then they'd brag about being the ones who reported you.

As for me, I know one thing: when I have kids, there is zero chance they're getting vaccinated. I'm certainly not letting them shove amalgam into their teeth or deal with water fluoridation. They won't be chewing Orbit (ASPARTAME) or seasoning their soup with Vegeta (Monosodium glutamate).

Go ahead. Burn me too.
I don't want to donate blood in Health ·
You’re spot on, Ivan. Don't you dare give them your blood! You’d actually be doing the world a favor by staying away. Have you heard those stories about organ transplants? People say when someone gets a transplant, they start picking up the traits of the donor. Like, there was this case where a woman who had been a strict vegetarian suddenly started craving beer and fried chicken wings—all because that was her late husband's favorite meal. Just imagine if you donated blood and a bunch of random people ended up inheriting your entire mindset through a transfusion. Absolutely terrifying.😲
Eating raw potatoes = getting the flu? in Health ·
Tried it, and honestly? Nothing. Just a disgusting taste. You can always get hammered and puke, though. At least you'll feel good while you're consuming it. As for the thermometer, just stick it under a stream of warm water—or just bang it against the mercury reservoir (that’s a joke if it's a digital one).
OB/GYN Discussion Thread in Women's Health ·
I don't see any reason why you can't go to private specialists while still keeping your insurance coverage. That's exactly how I handle things—if there's an emergency or if I just want a second opinion, I head straight to a private clinic.
I refuse to be stuck relying on just one single doctor for everything. One guy says this, another says that... it’s better to have options.

But maybe you will? Do you remember a past life, or dying, or anything after that? Probably not. But there are people who claim they do—I mean, if reincarnation is actually a thing, right? And some folks say the soul lingers on this earth for a while, especially if someone dies suddenly in an accident and can't wrap their head around it, before finally moving on to higher planes.
