Experts in certain specialized fields basically act like little gods within their own domains I mean, sure, they aren't exactly sitting on the throne next to God, but compared to the average person who doesn't have a clue what they're doing, they might as well be
I guess that’s just a different beast altogether like you can see in the example with the US, if you’re banned, the subforum doesn't even show up on your radar at all. this whole business with permissions usually only pops up when a thread is, say, locked.
look, you guys are all just wonderful, really honestly, things on this forum need to start heading in a better direction, though I suppose we can always just spin up another thread whenever some new disaster strikes
Someday soon, we’re going to tell Americans that all software needs to be written in American instead of English. Maybe they’ll actually learn something for once, which would probably do them some good.
Self-control is non-negotiable if you actually want to get anywhere in life, because if you can’t manage yourself, you’re basically a passenger in your own life. It’s an entirely different story if you’re making a conscious choice to let loose and ride the chaos, but if you go down that road, you lose all rights to complain when things inevitably blow up in your face and you end up broke. 🙂
So now someone’s supposed to keep an eye on you because you clearly can't manage it yourself, right? don't go looking for trouble if you aren't ready to deal with the fallout.
amberangler99 said:but honestly, it doesn't even matter, because at this point, there’s really no sense in continuing this whole conversation anyway, so I'll just leave you all to it and wish you the best, since I've clearly spent enough time hanging around here👋
Well, to be honest, it really depends on where you're asking and what the context is I mean, I think we’re all pretty sharp enough to tell whether someone is just messing around or if they're actually being offensive or aggressive...
silentridge3, look, if we were actually talking about serious forum members trying to have a legitimate discussion while some low-life trolls constantly interfere and mess with us, I’d probably be out there throwing Molotov cocktails at the local television station but the thing is, those serious, intelligent people just aren't here—at least not in any numbers worth mentioning, anyway if we actually had some real competition to deal with, I’d be the first one to sign off on launching a PDF series
The two of them are the only ones who actually know what’s going on with their own issues, so if they feel like clearing things up, they will I’ve basically narrowed my focus down to those endless, repetitive questions where the answer is already staring you in the face Look, you’ve got maybe two, three, or four moderators and a few hundred forum members, most of whom think they’re an expert on absolutely everything When it comes to a specific problem, whether someone is asking a question, offering praise, or whatever else, I honestly don't mind people asking or making requests... But we simply cannot be out here breathing down the moderators' necks over every single move they make, expecting them to justify themselves or explain every little thing
exactly I’m not about to spend my life justifying every single little thing I do or answering every random question thrown my way for instance, there’s absolutely no point in explaining things when the answer is staring you right in the face—kind of like that first post here it isn't some kind of "holier-than-thou" attitude either, it’s just about asking questions that actually matter and can actually be answered
Personally, I’m under the impression that most people just want one single login to rule them all, but let's be honest, it's purely out of sheer laziness rather than any grand vision and honestly, you see it happening almost every single day—someone accidentally posts something they shouldn't, exposes their entire identity, and then comes crawling back wanting to scrub their digital footprint so they can pretend it never happened I’m on the same page when it comes to security, though; having separate accounts for different things is definitely the smarter play if you actually care about privacy but look, the final call isn't mine to make, and people are going to chase whatever convenience they think they want, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out At any rate, I'm pretty certain they aren't going to scrap the current registration process we have in place, so everyone can just do whatever works for them, I guess...
