Hey Bob Saget! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, which specific usernames actually ended up getting banned?

The IP addresses for velvettinker41 and Andrew Gomez95 are identical.

I’m still going to dig a little deeper to see if we're actually looking at the user John Doe.
Moderator behavior on other media is terrible in Feedback & Suggestions ·
That’s exactly why these rules get published in the first place,
so you end up being just as informed—if not arguably better informed—than when you're trying to wrap your head around something like federal laws.

Hey mods, could you please double-check if this username is actually available before you start sending people my way?
thanks

Go ahead and start a new thread
that old one was just getting too cluttered with everything under the sun, including all that leftover junk from the old server
it’s not like we suddenly ran out of errors to deal with, so there's no sense in getting all nostalgic for the good old days
😁
Shoelaces, what is your problem? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
James Hernandez61, I was the one who banned those two, not mellowseal27
Look, when we're talking about pedophilia—specifically regarding visual content—those posts ARE pedophilic
And that isn't just some minor violation of the forum rules; it’s actually a direct violation of federal law here in the States
So, honestly, I'd suggest you just take a breather, mind your own business, and let the admins and mods actually do the jobs they were put in place to handle

What’s even the point of this?
Look, nobody is out to get him, but if we’re actually going to engage in a serious discussion here, then the posts should probably reflect that level of substance
. These kinds of rants might fly on some niche political subreddit, but putting them on the main page is just cluttering up the feed with useless noise
If we're looking at that post as the standard, then there's no way those other posts were deleted without a damn good reason.
Israel shouldn't exist, and Zionism is a religion, not a nation. in Feedback & Suggestions ·
gibrankh , Muslims in Canada also capitalize their names and are officially recognized as a distinct ethnic group
look, I honestly don't know what the specific legal precedents are regarding who qualifies as a "nation" or an ethnic group, but if we’re at the point where walls are being treated like people, then I suppose we should probably show them some respect too
on the flip side, we're stuck in this constant tug-of-war between free speech, censorship, and the whole mess of trying to police hate speech—no matter how much people try to sugarcoat it

my buddy power lock gave me a heads-up, and it looks like revolution has her own way of interpreting things as well, so maybe I didn't quite hit the mark or was a bit too vague in my previous post??
so, I'll just ask everyone here for a little patience while I figure out how to word this so it actually makes sense, because in my mind, it should be pretty self-explanatory
Is it against the rules to use Arabic script in your signature? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, apparently, I’ve been convinced that I was totally off base here and that you actually can include stuff in your signature written in another script
. Because of that, I guess I owe an apology to anyone I might have inconvenienced or annoyed with my previous stubbornness
. Basically, all the formal writing has to be in the standard English alphabet, but you can certainly tuck some other characters or symbols into your signature, provided they aren't being offensive or anything...

Maybe you saw it that way, but I’ve stumbled upon plenty of instances where it said something completely different, which was honestly pretty ugly
And look, if we’re being real, even us moderators don't have a crystal ball to know exactly what's being written at any given moment
So, just to be clear, this isn't some targeted hit job on anyone in particular or any specific side of an argument; my only actual goal here is to make sure people can still sit down and have decent discussions about obvious, sensitive, and timely topics without everything blowing up

Yeah, I’ve always been a big advocate for everyone having the freedom to write whatever they feel like, right up until the moment people started using that liberty as an excuse to be total jerks
But now, I don't really see much of a choice in the matter other than insisting on sticking to a style of writing that folks here can actually make sense of, which also happens to ensure the moderators can clearly see what the hell is going on

goldensailor15, I’ve gotta say, I’m starting to lose my patience with you
The alphabet we use here in America is the Latin script
If you’re busy picking fights with Israelis, then you should probably know exactly where Palestine is located

You missed this part? It’s not written in Cyrillic, Chinese characters, Japanese kanji, Arabic script, or some random scribble made by a mouse's foot

Arabic numerals are standard everywhere and perfectly fine by my book, so let's just leave it at that.
Don't try to play dumb now and pretend this is some kind of targeted discrimination against Arabs on an American forum (LOL).

And yeah—you’re lying, because that is exactly what’s happening here, and I don't see any reason to sugarcoat things when talking to a liar.
I gave you plenty of time to update your signature, yet somehow you had enough time to fire back a PM and go right back to surfing the boards, but suddenly you were too busy to do the one simple thing you were asked to do?

Every single profile you're showing off here uses the Latin alphabet anyway.

goldensailor15, I’m pretty certain you’ll have no trouble finding some corner of the world where writing in Arabic is actually welcomed.
Look, this is an American forum, and we write using the Latin alphabet here.
We don't use Cyrillic, we don't use Chinese characters, we don't use Japanese ideograms, we don't use Arabic script, and we certainly don't write with chicken scratch.

And don't even try to play dumb by claiming you haven't been on this forum before, because I could prove you're lying in about two seconds flat.

You keep pointing out this signature like it's some kind of personal affront to you, but you never stop to ask yourself why it bothers you in the first place.
Maybe it's just because it's in the Latin alphabet, so you can actually decipher what it says?

once you actually step up and prove you aren't just talking out of your neck, maybe then we'll see some actual results
but until that day comes...
