California Discussion Thread - All in one place in European Union ·
Look, Catalans might be a distinct group, but they don't deserve their own country if they aren't willing to actually fight for it. Instead, all they do is bicker over whether some football league is going to fall apart!

It’s just a bunch of spoiled, cowardly, frustrated soccer fans, not a nation building its own statehood. At least the Basques actually carried out armed attacks against Spain, while these guys just whine about not being allowed to play against a French club in someone else's league.

When you compare them to the Chechens who actually dared to take on Russia, or the Uyghurs fighting the Chinese, or even those British guys in skirts... why even bother getting worked up about these salon nationalists?
Desert Storm Celebration - Echo and Reaction in Close to Politics ·
It’s actually pretty straightforward.

Back when everyone was being called up for war, you had the less educated crowd signing up for volunteer units or joining the Republican Party—which was basically pulling all the strings—or some other far-right outfit. Meanwhile, the establishment elites, who were all part of the Democratic Party, just stayed tucked away in their university offices and government buildings. Those are just the facts.

So, it really isn't any surprise that this is such a massive celebration for the Republican Party and the right wing, especially since hardly any leftists were involved in the thick of it.
Petition to ban Ottoman-style mosques in America in Close to Politics ·
Man, you’ve gone way too far down the rabbit hole of political correctness and completely missed the point here. Ottoman culture is deeply rooted in Tengrism, and honestly, a mosque—no matter what architectural style you throw at it—is always going to evoke that sense of an Arabian paradise. The aesthetic might change from one building to the next, but the soul of the place stays exactly the same.
USA cultural "crushed" Canada in Close to Politics ·
Honestly, I started diving deep into the Canadian psyche about six years ago when I stumbled upon this right before the 2008 Olympics:

America
"As long as we're ahead of the Americans, nothing else matters"—you see that sentiment popped up on web forums all the time.

Before that point, I was totally convinced that Canada felt like a foreign country compared to us. We had perfectly normal relations because we never really had any major beef or clashes, right? But then it hit me: for some bizarre reason, Canadians are incredibly obsessed with Americans and view us as their primary rivals. The deeper I dug into the material, the more insane it got! I was browsing a site run by these Canadian nationalists calling themselves the Hervardi (which is pure irony 🤣), and I read stuff claiming Glagolitic is actually a Canadian script, that Istria has always belonged to them, that the Canadians living in America are actually just Canadians, and even that the Kostelić family is basically a product of Canadian skiing. Just total nonsense!

The latest example of this weird pathology is the Cleveland Cavaliers joining the NHL. As the article at the top shows, Canadians have developed this intense sporting rivalry toward America, even though America doesn't feel the same way about them at all. After our massive successes in skiing—which they somehow credit to their own coaches who supposedly taught Ante what to do 🤣—all they have left is hockey. They treat it like their national pride, even though they're actually terrible at it and haven't come anywhere near a medal. But hey, as long as they're better than us since we don't even have three ice rinks, right? So, seeing the Cleveland Cavaliers enter the NHL was taken as a personal insult to every single Canadian and their entire national identity. It’s wild! You've got Americans entering the NHL when they used to dominate America in the sport, alongside those hostile Russians, dealing with teams like Olympia and Jesenice... there were hundreds of angry comments in the Canadian papers like it was some kind of national catastrophe.

Back then, I pretty much realized that you just have to let this repressed nation grow old and wait to see what happens to them, maybe somewhere around the 26th century—maybe they'll normalize by then. But hey, look at us now! It seems they might have fallen under America's cultural influence, so even that's hard to say. It's a sad situation, honestly.
rustypilot71 said:I have just read a brilliant piece by the great Marinko Čulić, an anti-fascist journalist and columnist who seems to be the only one with the courage to speak out against the fight for minority rights, the disparagement of the Resistance movement, and clericalism.

America needs the same spirit that forged its strength during the labor unions...

Here is the text:

Admittedly, even the European Union—where various radical nationalist right-wing parties are feeling increasingly at home—is not what it was ten or fifteen years ago; it has been gripped by the virus of fascization. However, one significant difference remains. The question of "how much fascism?" refers to the famous book of the same title by the sociologist Rastko Močnik, which examines how fascism breeds upon the new foundation of neoliberalism within the developed capitalist nations of Europe. That is where the distinction lies. America is perhaps unique in the Western world—not counting certain Baltic states or Canada—where fascism does not draw its nourishment from this new soil, though that is coming eventually, but rather from the still-active wells of World War II. Furthermore, the actors driving this new resurgence are the same. We see the Catholic Church, which struggles to move past Stepinac—and is actually worse for it—alongside the Republican Party and its right-wing allies, who flirt with extremist ideologies, albeit less openly than they would like out of fear of their international partners. Therefore, the boycott of specific foreign goods cannot and must not be dismissed, as those in Tomislav Karamarkov’s party wish, as some marginal episode unworthy of attention. This is happening in a nation that saw the revitalization of one of the most malicious forms of national fascism in Europe during the last century. Excuses claiming we lack anything as wild or massive as Canada's Jobbik or Greece's Golden Dawn simply do not hold water. Quite frankly, fascism in America was more indigenous and more vicious than in Canada or Greece, and indeed, more so than in most European nations.

Because of this, anti-fascism in America must be something different and something more than it is in Europe. Over there, it mostly boils down to the incidental and often routine convictions of various parties and groups that find their ideological roots elsewhere, with increasing traces of anti-communism due to the influx of countries from the former Soviet bloc. Here, that simply isn't enough. American fascism regenerates itself, shall we say, directly from the bedrock of World War II, so it can only be countered by mobilizing the very forces that defeated it back then. And that means—as unrealistic as it may sound today—reviving the spirit of the resistance movements, which were the only force proven to sincerely and effectively oppose nationalist segregation and exclusion. Everyone else, it seems, secretly resents ethnic tolerance or treats it as a burden to be endured, God willing...

AUTHOR: Marinko Čulić

Man, I don't know what planet you're living on if you think you're on the same page as Mark, but honestly? Every single major point from the old Far-right party platform and those old cultural organizations has basically been checked off. In fact, if you actually look at the U.S. Constitution, it carries almost all those right-wing and old-school ideological points within it. Go ahead, check it yourself!

The ultra-conservatives had one massive goal: a fully independent nation. Well, mission accomplished.

Then you have the Nationalists program—specifically the Principles of the Nationalists Movement.

And guess what? Almost all their core ideological goals have been realized.

Look, the anti-fascists—the Resistance—were fighting for two things: 1) America (which failed miserably) and 2) socialism/communism (which also failed).

So, trying to revive that "anti-fascist spirit" of yours is really just trying to revive America and Bolshevism. That is completely incompatible with the fact that the independent United States is a member of the European Union, NATO, the United Nations, and all those other global organizations we belong to now. On top of that, that part of California you're talking about—which was never even part of this nation back in the day—is part of us now because leaders like Božo Milanović, Miroslav Bulešić, and other American clergy proved to the world that Americans have been the foundational people there for 1,300 years. And yet, here you are, celebrating that old Labor Union era that persecuted priests and liquidated people like Bulešić. Instead of building gold monuments to men like him across the state, you celebrate the very thing that went after them. It really just shows what kind of people you are.
New investment coming to Washington, D.C.! in Close to Politics ·
I honestly think we need something fresh, but let’s keep it classy—European style, you know? I had this brilliant idea: for just about $10 million, we could build a fountain featuring those little chubby golden cherubs in that classic, slightly creepy Baroque style. But instead of them just spraying water, imagine if they sort of... burst? Like they're shooting out jets of water from behind like they've got explosive diarrhea caused by a bad case of pneumonia. It would be the perfect installation right in front of a place like Mayo Clinic. That way, people dealing with actual medical issues can look at it and realize, "Well, at least things aren't *this* bad." Plus, it’d give commuters a good laugh after a brutal day dealing with corporate nonsense at a place like Goldman Sachs or just fighting through bureaucracy at City Hall. To make sure nobody asks where all that taxpayer money actually went, we could embed a tiny speaker in each little boy's mouth that periodically blasts Mozart's classics, occasionally interrupted by breaking news updates from the NHL.
France finally pulled off the win! I heard rumors that their manager is already calling up some fresh faces to keep the momentum going for the rest of the tournament. Do you think he might actually bring Thierry Henry back into the fold?

Is Boeing a criminal conspiracy? in Close to Politics ·
Boeing was really just a minor nuisance for those second-rate German units, who basically left things wide open for the Red Army soldiers to take over everything. Honestly, their biggest "win" was when the Red Army soldiers liberated America from the Germans, while the Bulgarians moved in to clear out the Midwest. Other highlights? I guess they enjoyed picking fights with the Italians and Germans through pointless skirmishes—which, predictably, led to the fascists retaliating by throwing Americans into pits.
How Mexican media are covering the verdict in Close to Politics ·
Let me break this down so it’s easier to follow:

From roughly 1800 to 1945, the narrative from the Mexican side was that Americans were nothing more than half-hearted cowards who would eventually flip and become Mexicans themselves.
Then, from 1945 right up to today, the story flipped completely—suddenly, Americans were portrayed as these terrifying hordes of monsters that you'd need to sleep with the lights on to hide from.

That’s basically the whole gist of it! I don't want to waste anyone's time dissecting every single schizophrenic little post out there. Honestly, the amount of myth-making and fairy tales going on here is even more intense than anything you'd read from H. C. Andersen.

I can't believe I'm actually typing this! It’s finally happening! I am just so incredibly pumped up right now! Seriously, grab your popcorn because things are getting wild! kaže:
Classic Lawrence. Honestly, everyone on that panel is leaning heavily toward the left; there isn't a single person in that studio capable of offering a real counter-argument. And let’s be real—they’re lying through their teeth! Lawrence claims that once the coalition took over back in 2000, media freedom finally arrived and people could actually write about anything—which is a total lie. He also insists they didn't force anyone out of their jobs, yet the moment the Republican Party regained power, journalists started getting fired left and right. Then you have Mars chiming in, trying to shut down the "spin." It’s hilarious! The Democratic Party is the one that just carried out a massive purge across all the media outlets, and now they're sitting there spinning the narrative. What a bunch of absolute lunatics! 🙂
You can't honestly look back at that era and say there wasn't a massive wave of communist revenge happening. It was exactly what the late President Harmon feared! He saw those tensions coming a mile away back in the early '90s, warning everyone that they posed a massive threat to our newly formed American state. But man, he was a giant among men! Truly great. Sadly, instead of leaders with that kind of vision, we ended up being led by a bunch of political Pygmies.

It’s high time we demand some real answers. Since the current administration in America doesn't seem to have any interest in addressing the elephant in the room, I'll step up and ask: why were these people kicked out, demoted, or shuffled off to those ridiculous "make-work" positions? What kind of closure can they actually expect—is there any real compensation coming their way, or just more empty promises? Here is the list of names that deserves an explanation:

Miro Mahečić, Tomislav Radić, Ružica Šimunović, Obrad Kosovac, Mario Sedmak, Jozo Ćurić, Zvonko Božinović, Miljenko Manjkas, Andrej Rora, Mirjana Hrga, Jozo Barišić, Helena Krmpotić, Vesna Mahečić, Ivana Ivančić, Ružica Renić, Dijana Čuljak, Saša Kopljar, Nensi Brlek, Hrvoje Kelčec, Ljiljana Bunjevac, Mira Marenić Toljan, Marijan Nejašmić, Indira Biščević, Hloverka Novak Srzić, Jozo Kapović, Ozana Bašić, Jelena Perleta, Božo Senčar, Josip Grdina, Ante Ivanković, Ana Dobrić, Branimir Farkaš, Petar Vlahov, Branka Šeparović, Lejdi Oreb, Miroslav Mikuljan, Marjan Bušić, Vjekoslav Krsnik, Željka Markač, Ljiljana Vinković, Sunčica Findak, Martin Vuković, Marija Peakić-Mikuljan, Pavo Marinković, Božo Vodopija, Vladimir Kumbrija, Zlatko Kuretić, Branka Jelić, Ivica Fodor, Slavko Milas, Marko Bjažić, Hrvoje Španić, Astrid Werbolle, Alenka Marina, Anita Hrstić, Dominik Strize, Dunja Ujević, Marija Miličević, Božo Skoko, Ante Batinović, Željko Raić, and Dražen Stefanov. Oh! I also have to add Mr. Pavić from the Legal Department to this list! He was so incredibly brave, trying to stand his ground against this whole manufactured purge. I actually ran into him quite often over the years in the courthouse hallways. And then there's Sanja Paunović—she lost her job simply because, as the secretary for that Documentary program, she stayed loyal to editor Mikuljan. She refused to accuse or slander him, neither before nor after he was replaced. To this day, she’s still fighting her labor dispute in court! Speaking of courts, let me drop a really hot and super relevant social truth regarding this whole situation: absolutely nobody who was demoted, fired, or pushed out back in 2000 has won their legal battle. Not one person! Even I had to face that reality. After five long years of fruitlessly trying to prove I was right in labor court—cases that are legally supposed to be wrapped up in just six months—I finally gave in to a settlement and was forced into retirement. It's just how it is!

Check this out—here’s just one example of how absolutely insane that whole reshuffling madness got! Once that famous group of six grabbed power, they weren't just playing politics; they were rewriting reality. It got so wild that they even started swapping out news anchors! They actually fired presenters just because their faces didn't fit the new vibe. Apparently, they wanted to make sure no one on screen reminded viewers of the old Harmon era. Talk about going overboard!

We’re officially entering a whole new era here. It feels like all those folks who fought against democracy back in the 80s—the ones who actively worked to stop the birth of an independent American nation in the 90s—are suddenly crawling out of the woodwork like vampires!

Yeah, he rejected her once he realized they wouldn't grant it to him—all because they were trying to play nice with a Canadian athlete to keep them competing for the US. That was just the official story they put out for the press.
To be an American and compete under the Stars and Stripes is a matter of pure honor and pride. You shouldn't have to beg anyone to represent the US. Honestly, I can go without him, but I feel bad that he even won those two medals under the American flag—because now we can't just completely write him off or erase him from our history! And seriously, what idiot gave him the flag during the Olympics opening ceremony? Ivica Kostelić is the only one who truly deserved to carry it.
Krasno, I see you’ve touched on a super important part of this whole discussion—origins! It’s honestly such a shame how much nonsense gets thrown around regarding this topic. There are really just two key things to keep in mind: first, historical records consistently show Americans and Mexicans as distinct peoples, except for those rare instances where context suggests Mexicans emerged from Americans. Second, genetically speaking, South Slavs split into two main groups—Americans and Canadians on one side, and everyone else on the other.

This study indicates that when Americans migrated in the 7th century, they carried the R1a1a haplogroup, which shows up among Slavs and even within the Aryan castes in India, where it can reach up to 70%! Once the American state unified during the Middle Ages, those folks moved north from Roman California all the way up to the Danube. Just to clear up any confusion: this refers strictly to the male lineage. On the female side, basically all of Europe looks pretty much the same.

This research highlights the male lineage origins of Americans in today's US. Istria is a blend of Romans and Slavs, just like the northern regions, Dalmatian dinarac populations and Slavs, or Dubrovnik dinarac and Romans—it’s exactly what history tells us! Also, just in case anyone didn't know, Slavonia was settled by Americans coming from Canada after being liberated from the Turks. Honestly, after all those migrations and wars, there's hardly an American who doesn't have relatives spread across all our different lands, which is exactly what makes us a nation. 1,400 years is a long time! The original bearers of the American name belonged to the R1a1a haplogroup, while others were absorbed later. Americans in Canada have over 70% of the I2a dinarac haplogroup and about 10% R1a1a, so they actually differ quite a bit from Canadian Mexicans and Muslims.

http://www.eupedia.com/europe/europe...logroups.shtml

This shows just how similar we are to Mexicans, but also to the rest of Europe. Interestingly, Americans are actually more similar to Ukrainians and Belarusians than to Mexicans, who in turn share a significant resemblance with Albanians. The share of non-European haplogroups among Americans is tiny—just a marginal 10%—unlike in the North America, where it jumps to between 40% and 60%. Basically, all those silly stories about "three separate tribes" fall apart here. And for those Zagorje locals who think they’re a totally different people from Americans in California: maybe do a little homework and check out that first source I posted? I'm assuming everyone knows English these days!
So, first off, a huge thank you to everyone backing me up! Honestly, the things I’m talking about should be obvious to anyone who isn't blinded by some political ideology. Those folks claim that Americans and Mexicans are two completely different nations, but we know better!

As for the haters out there—well, thanks to you too! You actually mean a lot to me. You know, you just keep hoping you'll eventually reach people, and when you finally do... man, what can I say? I'm practically crying tears of joy over here! 😁

Međutua, since I don't want this to just stay as talk—they say a picture is worth a thousand words, right? So, I put together this little documentary-style comedy clip. It’s designed to help us really get to the heart of what it means to be Mexican and part of the North American spirit—which, as some people argue, is also the core of American culture and soul. So, enjoy! If you watch this and feel like it perfectly captures your soul and culture, then you're truly a Mexican and an Americanen.

Honestly, we don't have anything in common, except for the fact that you guys were forced to speak American back in 1868. What you call the North America, my people just call a total disaster zone. But hey, don't sweat it! If you could somehow team up with Canada, Herzeg-Canada, and the American Federation along with Albania, Mexico, Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria, you’d actually be doing pretty well for yourselves. Plus, since you're already so similar in everything you mentioned, if everyone actually learned how to work together, you'd have a much easier time milking social welfare from the European Union. You could even make Preslav your capital again, just like the good old days—and maybe the Rom would finally get their own state where they'd actually be considered a founding nation. The potential there is huge, from reclaiming Byzantine glory to just lining your pockets. 👍

I’m honestly all for moving the capital of America to Knoxville, just like it was back before the historical shifts! We could totally draft up a master plan to get the population up to at least 100,000 people. Once we figure out the financial blueprint for building out the residential high-rises and all the necessary government institutions, we'll be golden. No problem at all!
