All right, all right... If listening to Hendrix is actually causing you this much existential dread, maybe I should suggest Sead Lipovača instead—though you might end up just craving an Ibrahim-Pr fix after that.🥳

bluemason3 said:Look, I’m not suggesting she’s being subjective with her moderation because of that; that’s a stretch.

Besides, half the admin team is tied together by family ties—not specifically her, mind you—and while it isn't quite as blatant an instance of nepotism as what we see with bluecyclist64 and the rest of that Anderlon clan, I think you might be overthinking things.

But honestly, what does it matter? Nobody chooses their relatives, and the forum remains open to everyone.👍

What was all that about? Can't you just let me be?

By the way, I flagged your post, so I'd appreciate it if you'd leave my family out of this.
Dealing with annoying ads and pop-ups in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Can we all just collectively agree to shove these ads where the sun doesn't shine?

I haven't laid eyes on a single advertisement in years, mostly because I had the foresight to install an ad blocker—and honestly, you don't need a PhD to figure that out.

If you can't manage to block an ad, frankly, you've earned the annoyance. 🙂

People have been handed instructions on how to fix this a thousand times over, but apparently, it’s all just too "complicated" to actually implement.

Economy subforum is getting trashed in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Rachel Brooks63 said:Wait, so you're telling me it's actually against the rules to call America a "corrupt playground of cronyism" on this entire subforum? Are you serious? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

I’m reading this, and I honestly can't believe my eyes.

Gerald Chavez7 As stated by:
It honestly baffles me how much vitriol is constantly being spewed on the economics subforum. It’s become this endless cycle of insults, accusations of corruption, and people calling everyone else a "corporate shill" or some other variation of an epithet, all without ever actually making a coherent point. I mean, I even pointed out in my own thread that we have a dedicated chat room specifically to avoid this kind of mess, yet here we are. At this rate, does this site really need another duplicate of the "politics" section? Because right now, the economic board is starting to look exactly like a political shouting match.

People are complaining here that this subforum has been ruined, but honestly, you should take a look back at the original "Real Estate Prices" thread. If you dig through the archives, you can find the old discussions from the days when Lehman Brothers collapsed, or those intense debates we had during the currency devaluation periods and the Eurozone debt crisis. Just look at some of those high-value posts—the ones like what shadow used to write. They actually offered something substantial.

I feel like I’m repeating myself here, but I really must insist that everyone takes a moment to actually read the subforum rules. They’ve been pinned at the top since 2007 for a reason.'s go

It strikes me as fundamentally absurd that a mere moderator can act as a self-appointed censor, deciding which specific words are deemed acceptable and which ones aren't. It’s a bit much, if you ask me.
I would expect to see this kind of thing on a forum moderated by Željko Markić, rather than right here.

Alexander Thompson said:Some people claim that barking is a trait reserved for the more intelligent among us. I’ve always found that kind of logic a bit tired, though I suppose there's a certain cynical charm to it if you're looking at the world through a lens of pure noise. 😉

I was reading an interesting piece on ScienceAlert today regarding how swearing might actually be a biological advantage, and it got me thinking about how we perceive language in our own culture. According to the researchers, profanity isn't just a lack of vocabulary; it can actually serve as a functional tool for pain management and emotional release. It’s a concept that many people dismiss as mere vulgarity, but there seems to be some legitimate science suggesting that letting out a well-timed curse word can physically increase our tolerance levels during stressful or painful situations. It reminds me of a time back when I was working a grueling shift at a logistics firm in Chicago. We were dealing with a massive equipment failure during a heatwave, and the tension in the warehouse was thick enough to cut with a knife. Most of us kept it professional, trying to maintain a veneer of composure, but you could see the physical toll it was taking on everyone. In those moments, a sharp, muttered expletive felt less like a lapse in manners and more like a necessary pressure valve to prevent a total meltdown. There is a certain cynicism in modern discourse that treats any deviation from "polite" speech as a sign of intellectual deficiency. However, if we look at the data, it appears we might be over-sanitizing our interactions at the expense of our own psychological resilience. It’s a bit of a paradox: by policing our language so strictly, we might actually be making ourselves more fragile. It’s worth considering whether our societal push for constant decorum is actually counterproductive to how the human brain is wired to handle stress.

And it isn’t just that they’re saying it—they're actually right, damn it.
To hell with censorship!🙂

Thanks, will do.👍
Roger Fowler said:Madison County bridges, Gran Torino, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Perfect World. They're all top-tier Clint Eastwood films. They prove he can deliver much more than just a brooding stare and a quick draw.

Did Schwarzenegger star in any of those? I didn't catch him in them.
You mentioned one of his movies, but you didn't actually name it, which is why I was asking.
Roger Fowler said:Clint Eastwood managed to evolve far beyond those cheap westerns and his Dirty Harry series to become a truly top-tier actor and director.

I also thought Arnold Schwarzenegger was excellent in this one. For an actor of his caliber, this represents a significant step forward.

Top Gun in Movies ·
Ethan Martin said:From what I’ve gathered from the older generation, Top Gun had a certain rebellious charm back in the States during the old era.

In those years leading up to the big conflicts, anything with an American vibe felt like a quiet act of defiance against the old ways, Communism, and the USSR. I remember my older cousin telling me how people in movie theaters would actually cheer for the Americans and Tom Cruise as they went up against the Russians, almost like they were watching a high-stakes NBA game or a championship football match.

Personally, I think this film has real soul, though I know taste is subjective. One thing you certainly can't deny, however, is that it boasts one of the greatest soundtracks ever made.

P.S. Even if it was designed in America specifically to boost the military budget—so what? At least it worked.

It’s funny... actually, more tragic than funny.
Thank God we didn't have that happening in my civilized little hometown.

Totalitarian regimes... how quaint.🤣

If it hadn't been for Marshall, there wouldn't even be a country to speak of.

wiredcanyon94 said:You aren't bugging anyone. If I'm understanding you right, you want to hook up two separate USB drives to your PC and use them for mirrored backups? Honestly, just try asking Google something like "how to mirror 2 usb drives?" or a similar phrase. There should be plenty of ways to do it. I haven't messed around with that myself since I just rely on my Western Digital setup.
Give it a shot and let us know which option works best for you.

Karen Doyle72 said:Honestly, pretty much any decent new backup tool handles this nowadays. Personally, I'm a huge fan of SyncBackPro, though—fair warning, though—it can be a total headache for a regular user because the "expert mode" is just loaded with a mountain of settings, and it's way too easy to mess something up if you aren't careful.
But if you stick to the easy mode, it's a breeze:
you just pick your source file, folder, partition, or drive
then add your backup destination (could be disk 1, disk 2, a USB, an FTP server, or even the cloud...)
set the type of backup you want and decide when you want it to run

and voila...

Thanks, everyone! 👍

wiredcanyon94 said:Just stack two identical drives in there—say, 3 TB each, or whatever capacity the manufacturer actually supports.

When you're running a mirror setup, it’s exactly like what the other guy mentioned: it looks to you like you just have one single 3 TB drive, but behind the scenes, it's actually writing everything to both disks simultaneously.
Look, if a drive dies—and let’s be real, it’s usually just one at a time—you just grab another identical one to replace the dead weight. Once you swap it out, the system just replicates all the data onto the new drive. It’s pretty straightforward. Most of the time, you aren't going to deal with both drives kicking the bucket at once.

I only used that one as an example. That’s the one I actually have on hand, but there are plenty of similar devices out there on the market. It doesn't have to be that exact model.

Sorry to bother you all, but is there any software out there that lets me link two different external drives so they serve the same purpose—essentially mirroring the data to both?
New rules for warnings and bans in Feedback & Suggestions ·
It seems Dr. Helingen - Zagor isn't exactly celebrating his little experiment either...

I wish everyone luck with their testing, but honestly, I think we need some concrete rules established. It shouldn't feel like the moderators are just arbitrarily extending bans whenever they feel like it.

On that note, how long does each specific ban actually last? And why does it seem like every subsequent one lasts longer than the one before it?

So, my dear bureaucracy, how about you actually step up and explain this to the community?
I’ve been noticing some folks complaining about these bizarrely long ban durations or why small cards have such an absurdly long expiration period.

The Death of Stalin (2017) in Movies ·
I genuinely enjoyed this film. If you went in expecting nothing more than a slapstick riot, you’re probably going to be disappointed; the humor here is quite subtle and definitely isn't for everyone. It will likely resonate much more deeply with those who have an interest in the historical nuances of the USA. While the movie doesn't strictly adhere to the actual historical record, I feel the artistic liberty taken is entirely justified—just don't expect to walk away having learned anything factual about history.

For me, the absolute standout was Zhukov—he’s such a total badass that he could probably take a satnik Američanin, slap him upside the head, and toss him around like a ragdoll without breaking a sweat.🙂
