Manifesting sickness? in Health ·
velvetpilot212 said:When I can't bring myself to get out of bed at 6:00 AM—just the thought of seeing my lovely coworkers is enough to kill my spirit... I’d much rather just stay under the covers, and honestly... forget everything else—I just can't do it!
The very next day, I’m inevitably sick. It’s always the same pattern: a sore throat, a runny nose, maybe even a fever.
Back when I was a junior in high school, I barely showed up to class at all. Looking back, the worst of my "illnesses" that year were sinus infections; everything else was just your run-of-the-mill cold.
I genuinely felt unwell—mostly just lethargic and feverish—but deep down, I knew I was basically manifesting it myself. My boyfriend at the time used to do the exact same thing, and we’d spend most of our days just hanging out on the phone.
Does this happen to any of you, and how does that process actually work?

By the way, I seem to be dealing with a cold about 365 days a year.
Whenever people ask if it's a cold or just allergies, I tell them I honestly can't tell the difference anymore... 😁
Though, I haven't really dealt with a fever in quite a while.

I actually got rid of them myself... 👍
It was honestly better than dealing with sinus pressure—if that’s even the right way to put it...
Plus, there isn't even any pain involved.👍

On the other hand, I've heard people say it "hurts like hell."

Could someone please clarify? 😁
Healthcare corruption: What's your take? in Health ·
jadetinker85 said:There were a billion other examples... And how does it even happen? Some young doctor shows up and complains that patients have already tried to slip her cash twice—only for her to hand it right back. People are just conditioned to corruption, and since health is the one thing everyone prioritizes above all else, even the poorest folks don't stop to ask what the real price tag is.
How do you actually get rid of these idiots? Is there a way to fix it, or is this just the fundamental way our pathetic country operates?

In this country, it’s become such a standard practice that I wouldn't even label everything as corruption anymore.
Actual corruption is when a doctor—or worse, a nurse—demands money from you, asks for an envelope or some kickback... but the real mess is the deeply ingrained belief (especially in rural areas) that it's perfectly normal to bring a nurse a coffee or a box of chocolates, while the doctor gets handed a massive Thanksgiving turkey and a stack of hundred-dollar bills.

A few years back, my grandmother had surgery, and once she was discharged, my mom and her siblings brought the surgeon a roasted suckling pig... 😲
Well, I certainly wasn't naive back then... but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Later on, I realized a roast pig is practically nothing compared to the sheer volume of "gifts" doctors actually receive. 😉

vividcobra46 said:But why does that sticky stuff keep running out of my nose constantly? Maybe I’m getting things mixed up—maybe I didn't quite catch your drift—but I dealt with being a total mess myself until just a few years ago. It was endless... sinus issues in the spring, sinus issues in the summer, then fall, and by winter it was a constant rotation of colds and sinus infections... plus all those annoying little bumps and rashes. That was until one doctor told me, completely deadpan after years of me complaining, that I actually had to be allergic to something. To everything and anything, really, though the specifics don't matter much now. What matters is that now, if I just take an allergy pill, I don't have to deal with nasal sprays, eye drops, or constant congestion. Not to mention that early morning coughing fit because that "sticky" stuff settles deep while I'm sleeping...
If I were in your shoes, I'd head straight in for those little needle pricks they call allergy testing.
👋

I've already gone through that process and I know exactly what triggers me.
Though, honestly... I probably should go back. My last round of testing was fourteen years ago, followed by five years of immunotherapy, but things change over time... I really ought to get tested again, especially since my Claritin isn't doing the trick like it used to...

Well, I don't know about all this...

In American slang, we'd just call them boogers. 😳

I’ve been battling chronic sinus issues and this endless, sticky nasal congestion my entire life.
The doctors—of course—haven't offered much beyond basic nasal sprays.
I’ve been relying on those drops every single day for YEARS just to maintain some semblance of breathing...
My nose is constantly running; I go through boxes of tissues non-stop, and if it isn't coming out the front, it’s just draining down the back of my throat into my stomach.🙄
I am NOT interested in seeing a specialist, I don't want any "quick fixes" from a pharmacy🙂 and I certainly don't want sinus surgery—nothing of the sort.
Does anyone know of a home remedy, a natural way, anything at all... please...😢

but boldeagle3, DID YOU EVEN TRY WHAT YOU WROTE OR ARE YOU JUST REPEATING SOMEONE ELSE'S OPINION?
TRY DIPPING A STEAK IN COLA AND THEN GET BACK TO ME WITH YOUR RESULTS🙂))
😛 😛 😛

I haven't tried it myself—I just got an email about it and decided to blow up on the forum 😁
I'll try to whip something up and let you know 😁 (though I'd feel bad wasting any Cola 🙂 ).
I'll probably test something regarding cleaning lime scale or rust. I'd much rather give a steak to my dog 😁

This falls squarely into the "True Statements" category. Pretty interesting stuff... 😁

- Coca-Cola actually used to have cocaine in the recipe.

- If you drop a tooth into a glass of Coca-Cola, it’ll dissolve by morning.
Emily Myers78 said:Regarding that whole melting issue—I’ve got a personal cautionary tale... I spilled some Sprite all over my keyboard. Within a few hours, certain keys just stopped responding entirely. Once I finally gutted the thing to see what went wrong, I realized that part of the conductive traces on the film had actually DISINTEGRATED...

Same exact thing happened to me 😁
The keyboard just bit the dust 😛
I’m sitting here sipping my Coke when this pops up in my inbox...
I’m certainly not going to stop drinking it because of this—not now, not ever—but I suppose I could try experimenting with some of these "hacks" to see if my toilet actually ends up sparkling... 😁

To health!

1. In many parts of the US, police patrols reportedly carry two gallons of Coca-Cola in their cruisers just to scrub bloodstains off the pavement after accidents.
2. If you take a raw steak and submerge it in a bowl filled with Coca-Cola, check back in two days—it’ll be gone!!!!
3. For cleaning the toilet: just pour a can of Coca-Cola into the bowl, let it sit for an hour, and flush. The citric acid in Coca-Cola eats through limescale stains.
4. To get rid of rust spots on a car: soak some crumpled aluminum foil in Coca-Cola and rub the spot.
5. Corrosive buildup on a car battery: pour a can of Coca-Cola over the battery terminals and watch the corrosion vanish.
6. You can clean almost any rust stain by soaking a rag in Coca-Cola and holding it against the spot for a few minutes.
7. How to cook a juicy roast: pour a can of Coca-Cola into a pan, wrap your roast in aluminum foil, and bake. About 30 minutes before it's done, peel back the foil, pour the "soda" over the meat, and let it caramelize to a golden brown.
8. Removing grease stains: dampen your clothes with Coca-Cola, add some detergent, and toss them in the washing machine. Coca-Cola supposedly helps break down those oily messes.
9. If your car windows are fogging up, try coating them with Coca-Cola.

And now, just for your information.......!

1. Coca-Cola contains phosphoric acid (pH 2.8). It can dissolve a fingernail in four days. That same phosphoric acid dissolves calcium from your bones, which is a primary driver of osteoporosis.
2. When transporting the concentrate—the actual Coca-Cola syrup—distributors have to use specialized tankers designed specifically to resist rusting.
3. For twenty years now, Coca-Cola distributors have been using the soda itself to clean their trucks and engines!

What do you all think?
