Childhood trauma... 😲
The soul of Fado in Music ·
... jazz was actually born and bred in Cape Verde, specifically in Praia. It didn't start in Portugal. The Portuguese basically ripped it off from the people in Cape Verde.
... just so there's no confusion here...
ps
... my other parent is Portuguese, so when you guys are talking about the roots of this music (or the whole lifestyle), please don't overlook Cape Verde... or those African influences... Portugal has its own version of the rabbit. Is it Alphonsa?...
..anyhow...where were we? ... lost the thread? ....
General Motors needs a serious boost, but Ralf isn't going to be the one to turn things around...

They should just stay exactly where they are; if they show up with a new car this season, they might actually give us a run for our money for the title!
Rising stars that never quite made it... in Movies ·
Jack of all trades said:Christina Ricci
was in Now and Then, then Ice Storm, then that ridiculous movie about some nymphomaniac, and she basically tanked what could have been a stellar career
Correct me if I'm wrong, though—I'd actually love to be proven wrong because I'd feel pretty silly😁

There's even a (pretty dull) tribute album out there by Outkast called "Tribute to Christina Ricci." Both of them are clearly huge fans.
Dealing with allergic rhinitis? in Health ·
I totally get how much allergies can suck.
I struggled with them for about 30 years, trying every single remedy under the sun.
Spring, summer, and that dry fall period were always my worst enemies, while winter was usually a bit easier to handle.

Just about a year ago, I started using Advair Accuhaler (that 500/50 combo of Flonase and Salmeterol from Allen & Company) along with some Nasonex nasal spray containing Qvar, produced by GlaxoSmithKline. I think Pfizer makes something similar under a different label, but the ingredients are what really matter. Honestly, it’s been a total game-changer for me. I used to take it twice a day, but now I’ve managed to scale back to just once daily. It sounds crazy, but it’s true—maybe it’ll help someone else out here, too. I know the drill: the stuffed-up nose, the constant dripping, the sneezing fits, eyes watering like crazy, and that general feeling of being completely on edge. I don't deal with all that anymore, though I wouldn't say I'm "cured"—it's more like I have to keep up with this routine, probably for the rest of my life. Luckily, I'm getting older, so maybe I won't have to deal with it forever! Just wanted to share because I truly feel for everyone dealing with this mess.
Best regards.
Scary Movie 3 in Movies ·
I was cracking up! 🙂 It’s actually a really solid movie, even if it gets a little exhausting toward the end. 🙄 My favorite part has to be the parody of "8 Mile"—the guy throws on a hood and looks straight-up like a KKK member, then the crowd suddenly goes wild and starts hyping him up, and wait until he actually starts rapping 😛
The scene where the Black woman is lying in the casket is hilarious; everyone at the wake is looking all somber and grieving, and her mom is just like, "Look how peaceful she looks," but then they show her, and she's got this terrified, frozen face with bulging eyes and an open mouth, hands stuck mid-air.
So good 👍 Honestly, I liked this way more than the first one, though I haven't seen the second installment yet.
CATIA... Science or just pure luck!? in Software ·
In your opinion, does being proficient in CATIA automatically mean you're:
1. an idiot
2. out of touch because you aren't using AutoCAD instead
3. a complete moron... I mean, who even asks a question like that?
4. just a weirdo... especially when you can make plenty of money without even touching it?

Well obviously it's cool. I mean, I wouldn't want to step out of the house if I had a little mess smeared all over my chest.😁
Need advice, I'm desperate in Health ·
I really need some advice because I’m spiraling right now. I’m 25, and last Saturday I was out with some friends. It was one of those nights where we ended up having a few too many—maybe 6 or 7 beers—and everything felt fine at the time. But later that night, I woke up with this sharp pain in my stomach. It was centered right around my liver area, and honestly, it scared the hell out of me. The pain eventually went away, but ever since then, I’ve been living in constant fear. I can't stop worrying that I might have liver cirrhosis or some kind of permanent damage. I wouldn't call myself an alcoholic, but I definitely enjoy a beer, and I’ll admit I’ve been drinking a bit too much lately. Now I’m stuck: should I go see a doctor, or should I wait and see if it happens again? Part of me is terrified that if I go, they'll just label me an alcoholic, and I don't think that's fair. Since that Saturday, I made a vow to never touch alcohol again—not even a beer. After reading stuff online about how deadly cirrhosis is, I’m even more of a wreck. Is it actually true that once you start feeling pain in your liver, it's "game over"? Please, if anyone has any advice, let me know. Is this as dangerous as it feels, and what should my next move be?😢.......

Who's the sexiest musician? in Music ·
Look, I’m definitely not attacking GG Allin’s legacy or his music
but seriously, the thread title is "sexiest musician"
unless we're redefining sex appeal to include a two-inch guitar, aggressive solo sessions, and smearing literal crap all over yourself, then I don't think this guy belongs in this conversation

it's wild how many people actually find this convincing👋

What’s your take on witnesses? Honestly, we should probably ban them altogether.

Quick question about credit cards in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
You can actually open as many different eBay accounts as you want using the exact same credit card.

I personally run three separate accounts with totally different names and addresses, all tied back to one single Visa card.

They never bother to cross-check those details anyway.
Psychiatrists definitely know how to charge a premium for their time..$67 When you look at those hourly rates, the monthly bill alone is enough to give anyone a massive headache.
Do you think they eventually just get jaded with all the "crazy" patients coming through their doors? Like, do they start acting cold or even looking at people with nothing but smirks and pure contempt?

I bet you're obsessed with Ballack, aren't you?😉

Hmm, I meant the Bayern Munich striker, Santana... just Santana (and honestly, just Santana in general when it comes to players).😁

It's so awkward when my boyfriend and I are watching Bayern together, then Roque runs onto the pitch and my jaw just hits the floor. Meanwhile, he's giving me this look like, "Honey, if I had a katana in my hand right now, you wouldn't have a head left on your shoulders."😁

If we're talking about the absolute hottest goalkeepers, it’s gotta be Casillas, Pagliuca (back in his prime), and a good friend of mine. 😍

Wait, hold on—have you actually seen what James looks like? He plays (I think) for West Ham, and he’s also the keeper for the US national team.
The guy is seriously easy on the eyes. 😍
What is the meaning of it all? in Philosophy ·

Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Hey, I just stumbled upon this thread (I hit page 10 and couldn't take any more 🙂), and sorry if this has already been asked before.

So, I’m starting birth control on Monday, and I was wondering if they help at all with PMS—specifically the mental side of things, since I don't really have major physical symptoms during that time.
During my PMS, I get incredibly depressed and sad; it’s like I'm practically incapable of functioning. There are days where I just stay in bed because I don't even have the willpower or energy to get up and wash my face.

Does anyone else here deal with stuff like this, and do you think the pill helps even a little bit with the mood swings?
thx

Has any of you ever had one of those months where, during that 6 or 7-day gap between refills, you didn't get your period at all?😲
