PDF Moderation for Soap Factory in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Keith Diaz5 said:The subforum says messages, complaints, and comments so I figured I might be allowed to comment on this thread and the mods over at the soap factory without being punished.
I have absolutely no intention of accusing any of the moderators, nor am I filing a specific grievance; I simply desire a few remarks from those who moderate the soap factory.

I have been typing on forums for quite some time, yet this is my first time engaging regarding a soap factory, and I am nearly stunned by the state of the Force thread.
I even received a warning for spamming and chatting and whatever else 🤷 though it truly does not matter. I have never complained about penalties; after all, I am aware of the rules and I accept them, so the punishments are merely a part of this entire situation.

The sheer amount of biased opinions and impressions on the Force thread is terrifying. There is content that has absolutely nothing to do with actual events or the character in the series, which gets "wrapped up" into a post just so it doesn't look like blatant spam or trolling, and those posts remain on the thread. Not to mention the constant chatting between a few forum members, the worshipful clapping on the same posts, and those one-sentence posts claiming how Force is stupid again.

The thread is simply unreadable to anyone who does not despise the character Force. For someone who happens upon it, the thread doesn't even look like a discussion about the series; it looks like a thread dedicated solely to the character Force, with occasional comments about others added just to glaze over the truth.

It is highly unusual that such things are permitted on an American forum like this one, an American forum where I always believed the rules were respected and that people strictly adhered to staying on topic and avoiding spam.
I have stated several times now that it is a shame, as I get the impression that the mods don't actually watch the show; if they did, the thread would not look the way it does.

I am not even sure what I hope to achieve with this thread. I have no intention of tarnishing anyone's reputation, nor do I believe anything significant will change, and I am certainly not here on behalf of the girls who were banned or left the thread of their own accord... I simply wanted to voice my commentary on everything because I find it unacceptable that all of this is allowed to happen.

Kind regards,
Keith Diaz5 🙂

Look, I genuinely, truly have no clue. I wasn't even being sarcastic. I’m reading this for the third time and I still don't get it.

Oh, and while we're at it, please list the usernames of the women who bailed on this thread. Let's actually hear from them for once. Based on all the complaints about the soap factory, there should be about twelve people missing. But my math isn't adding up. Ladies, women, mothers, or whoever else walked away from this discussion because—for reasons I can't even begin to fathom—you couldn't make sense of the mess above, please, speak up. Thank you.

casualbison4 said:I just wanted to chime in because @hasret got banned tonight simply for giving a totally human response to those open provocations from @tuncay and @denn30monn. All the posts were wiped, so I can't even quote them here.

Personally, I think she handled herself perfectly fine and didn't insult anyone. It’s honestly a bit much to expect someone to just sit there silently when they get hit with a comment like, "this is way too much even for you."

I'm posting this because it really sucks seeing a great thread die out just because of a few people who don't know when to stop. Now, one of the few people actually here to talk about the show—instead of just trolling everyone else—is the one getting punished.

I’d just add that you’re making unnecessary points here, especially since that ban doesn't even affect you. And as for that bolded part? You probably thought you were being helpful, but you weren't.

Personally, I think she handled that perfectly fine. She didn't cross the line or insult anyone. Honestly, it’s a bit delusional to expect someone to just sit there in silence after being told, "even you have gone too far."

You clearly refuse to grasp how things work here on Reddit, so I’ll say it one more time—I don't care which thread you're in or what color the UI is. The only acceptable way to handle a troll or a provocation is to hit that little report button and let the moderators deal with it. That is it. Anything else—snarky comebacks, getting in the mud, or fighting back—is just a fast track to warnings, deleted posts, strikes, and eventually, a permanent ban. We aren't sitting in some dive bar in Chicago where you can just yell at whoever annoys you. This isn't a pub. In a bar, you react however you want. Here, you follow the rules.

I’m posting this because I’m honestly sickened to see this thread dying a slow death. It’s all thanks to a few certain individuals who clearly don't know when to shut up. Now, one of the only people actually here to discuss the show—instead of just trolling everyone or making everything about themselves—is being punished for it. It's pathetic.

The topic is blooming once again, just like always. And before anyone asks—legal experts and lawyers are strictly prohibited from weighing in here.

wiredwolf442 said:Finally!🙂

It looks like everyone is finally waking up. If you’ve been unhappy with how things are being handled, please head over to the Admin thread and speak up—I definitely wasn't the only one feeling this way. I've been saying for a while that there’s a huge group of us who aren't happy, but most people stayed quiet because they were afraid of retaliation. I'm stepping away from the discussion for a bit to focus on my side projects, but from what I hear, the other side is just constantly trolling and poking at people. Personally, I don't have an issue with the mods themselves, but it's pretty obvious from a bird's-eye view that certain people are getting special treatment. For example, why did Anthony Harris2 get those points? Her post was perfectly fine and didn't break any rules. It feels like we're being pushed out of the conversation just because we disagree with the main female lead, while almost everything the other side does is tolerated. Honestly, how am I any worse than slytinker11? In my own thread, I pointed out a textbook case of her trolling and provoking without any consequences, yet nobody mentioned it. Instead, people just keep listing my old mistakes. One of the mods even told me my past slip-ups weren't that bad compared to others. Now I’m reading that the thread is dying because our side keeps getting warnings, points deducted, and bans, while the other side gets a free pass to keep trolling. If the mods won't step in, then the admins really need to take action because there are way too many complaints about bias here.

After our PM chat yesterday—where we actually offered you a concession you hadn't even earned, despite you being on probation—this post of yours hit me like a physical blow. Our intention was simple: we wanted to brighten your day with a gesture regarding that specific detail you repeatedly claimed was your main reason for participating here, and to make the wait until the end of your term easier. By the way, the term ends July 22nd, which is six months from February 22nd... even if you insist on calling it six months regardless.

But this post? It’s an insult to the integrity of the entire moderation team, and frankly, I'm stunned by what I've read.

Let's try this again: give me a concrete example (with a link) of a specific post by a specific user, and then we can discuss whether they should have been penalized. I wouldn't normally bother addressing slytinker11 based on such arbitrary accusations and the dragging of her username, but since you're interpreting our silence as some kind of admission of bias, let me be clear: whenever slytinker11 deserved it, she received a warning, a deletion, or a ban—without exception.

The issue here is that she knows the rules inside and out. She is articulate and doesn't lash out with senseless rage, so she can express her opinions without violating the standards of decent communication or Reddit. In those rare moments when she didn't follow the rules, she was punished, and she will continue to be treated just like everyone else, regardless of which team she belongs to.

And that is my end of story.

I just got flagged for this post because apparently I’m "talking to a person" instead of actually sticking to the topic. Give me a break.

Maybe that last sentence is just his way of engaging with the conversation, though I honestly don't see how. Since when did using sarcasm become a punishable offense around here?

As usual, you’ve jumped at every single chance to throw shade at "those people," "certain individuals," or "the opposition." Honestly? You just earned yourself a warning. This is about not attacking other users, plain and simple. I don't see a single actual question here. It's like you either didn't understand the point you made yourself—even after I repeated it back to you—or you're just using this entire thread as a stage to brag about your own post.

I can't seem to find the exact thread I was talking about.

Probably deleted, just like that entire string of posts written in the exact same style...

I’m honestly holding out hope that the post where my opponent claimed we all must be asleep or haven't watched a single episode of a series just because we’re defending a character gets nuked. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the moderator's tone wasn't being just as sarcastic as they were.

If they broke the rules, they get a strike and get booted. It’s that simple. I don't get it—do you seriously think being a jerk to other users instead of actually sticking to the topic is some kind of badge of honor? Using sarcasm as a weapon to dodge the actual conversation isn't a "plus," it's just bad behavior. 😕

I’ve been an active participant on this Reddit thread for quite some time now—we're talking five years deep—and I... I have absolutely never even been pulled aside for a warning, let alone been slapped with penalty points or a card. Not once..

Look, let’s be clear: you’ve racked up eleven separate infractions. That’s not a mistake; that’s a pattern. Even so, I’m giving you a break for now and handing you a formal warning—consider this your yellow card.

Is it just me, or has this entire thread gone completely silent? It feels like everyone has just packed up and left.

That’s just plain false. Not even close to the truth.

It’s because the same exact topics get dragged out over and over again—which, let’s be clear, isn't even your fault.

It’s not even about assigning blame anymore; it’s just a heavy cross we have to carry. We spend months, even years, scrolling through dozens of pages of the exact same repetitive nonsense multiple times a day. It’s exhausting. If you actually want to see progress, try steering the conversation toward something constructive for once—maybe then you’ll actually make an impact. Honestly, anything is better than that favorite little hobby of yours: obsessing over forum users and playing "team" politics.

It’s always the exact same crowd, constantly trolling and stirring the pot, yet nobody ever calls them out. We just sit here and let them run wild while they continue their little games.

I might as well just have this carved on my headstone. Unbelievable.

If you're actually hunting for proof or specific posts, go check out pages 409 and 410. Look at what @Miss Angel posted, then look at tonight's contributions from @tuncay and @denn30monn.

Just report the post. Click the little triangle icon. Drop the link. It’s common sense. I’m not going to sit here playing detective, scrolling through endless pages—especially since we don't all have the same display settings—hunting down specific handles you mentioned just to find posts where someone might have taken a swipe at you. You’ve reported at least a hundred different posts by now; if you stumble onto something problematic and unmoderated, just use the report button like everyone else. It’s not rocket science.

Anyone who actually deserves a strike, a ban, a deleted post, or a warning has already received it.

Walter Brown30 said:wiredwolf442, looking at your recent posts, it’s pretty clear you either missed the point entirely or you're just refusing to see why you got a partial ban.
If we're talking about the first thing: I don't care—and neither does anyone else here—what your opinion is on some character in a TV show or how they act. That’s irrelevant. What *is* relevant is how you treat the people on this site. You can't just treat people like garbage, which is exactly what you've been doing, and you've been doing it in a really aggressive way. When arguing in the threads wasn't enough for you, you started hounding people in their DMs, which just added more fuel to the fire... and even then, you didn't stop; you actually dragged clones into the mix too. All of this behavior, looking at the big picture, resulted in the serious sanction you received—that partial ban back on January 22nd, two months ago.
Constantly asking when your ban will be lifted isn't going to speed up your return to the main boards.
The earliest your case will even be reviewed is mid-July.

Best,

You’re taking the words right out of my mouth. 🙂

Let's be crystal clear here, wiredwolf442—I don't actually think you're an exceptionally unfit user for this soap factory community... you've been much worse than this before, and there will definitely be more. But honestly, other users have faced far harsher infractions than yours. Your partial ban didn't just fall out of thin air; nobody gets one of these lightly, regardless of the evidence provided. And while you might think you've been behaving lately, your last few posts prove our current decision was the right call. If you're already losing your bearings and your patience here—arguing over how many posts a moderator has in a thread or which team they belong to—just imagine the absolute chaos that would erupt in a main discussion thread for one of these series.

🤷

Furthermore, lifting a partial ban before the six-month mark wouldn't be fair under any circumstances to the people who received even shorter bans, served their time, and moved on.

It's not a death sentence. 🙂 And your ban isn't for life. But since you admitted you're active in a specific thread that clearly gets under your skin, maybe it's better if you jump back in once the series concludes and everyone can discuss things with some actual emotional distance. If you snap or lose control once, you'll end up dumping all that rage in a couple of posts, racking up 1,000 points, and losing your entire account forever. That would be a much bigger tragedy than a temporary hiatus from one specific PDF.

Finally, regarding everyone else's posts: if you spot something that actually violates the rules of this Reddit, please report it. I mean something blatant—not just something that grinds your gears because it contradicts your opinion or someone who's simply annoying, but clear-cut insults, trolling, off-topic spam, etc. No one gets special treatment from the moderators, and certainly not because they share sympathies with Roxelana.. 😁 Even we miss things sometimes. If that happens, your report will help us fix the oversight. 🙂

graniteotter6 said:Is anyone else seeing this besides me and the person I’m messaging privately?
It's a basic question, but still...

The only way someone else sees it is if that user reports the message for being inappropriate. In that specific scenario, the moderators, super-mods, and admins get eyes on it. However, since only the admins actually have the authority to hand out punishments for PMs, the rest of us rarely even see them. 😁

The idea that a mod or admin can just waltz into your inbox whenever they feel like it to snoop around is nothing more than an urban legend. 🙂

edit: I just realized you already got an answer in another thread, so... I'll just leave this here. Maybe some other user will stumble upon it later and find it helpful.

You’ve racked up three warnings here. Based on how you're acting, it feels like you've been banned a hundred times already. 🙂

You earned this strike because—despite the moderator warning you on the previous page—you decided to drag the conversation back to those draconian laws in Islamic countries, stories about little girls being killed just for suspected dating, and all that nonsense. This thread is about a Turkish drama on the NBC network. That kind of debate has absolutely no business being here. Especially when it's presented in such a sensationalist, wildly misinformed way. Not to mention, it’s downright offensive.

I should probably point out that the moderators have been patient and likely let a few things slide since I'm new to this section of the forum. I truly didn't know the rules, especially since they were updated recently—back in December, if I recall.

It's very likely we did let things slide, but it's also very likely you could have avoided this strike entirely by actually reading the rules. It's January 26th; it's not like you didn't have the time. 🙂

Regarding the volume and strictness of the rules: the Soap Opera sub-forum has been around for ages, and every single rule exists for a reason. Some are general rules that apply to all the sub-forums, while others were created over time because they were clearly needed. If you take a moment to actually sit down and read them thoroughly, you'll see there's nothing exotic going on here. Every rule follows a logic.

The moderators here spend hours every single day on this thread. It’s just like any other American TV drama craze—I have no idea why this phenomenon seems exclusive to these shows, but it happens. After just three posts, cliques start forming, and then for the next several months, they spend all their energy bickering with rival factions. It is nearly impossible to keep a lid on it.

Regarding the insults thrown at characters: let me be crystal clear once and for all: that does not violate forum rules. Hurem is a fictional character. If someone wants to call her Hurkurvetina, that says everything about that person's upbringing and nothing else. It shouldn't lead to a ban, nor should a fictional character need a dedicated squad of defenders who spend ten posts complaining about what's allowed and reporting "insults." Insults are directed at forum members, not ink on a screen. Cliques are allowed and actually quite normal, but if you're going to have them, the goal should be healthy debate. Prove why your hero or heroine is right or positive by using actual plot points from the show, rather than just attacking people from the opposing side with stuff like, "How can you possibly support Mahidevran?"

Generally speaking, you guys are spending way too much time obsessing over each other and not enough time discussing the show itself. That is exactly how we end up with problems, arguments, provocations, and eventually, infractions. It’s completely unnecessary. The series alone provides more than enough material for a decent discussion. We aren't looking to hand out bans, delete posts, or babysit you all like you're toddlers. Why on earth would we want that kind of headache? 🤷

You’d probably respond to this with your favorite little catchphrase: "Oh, come on, stop embarrassing yourself." Over the last two months on Soap, you’ve racked up a record-breaking pile of warnings from several different moderators. It’s not because you’re some special case we’ve singled out; it’s because every single one of your posts is either trolling, insulting other users, going Off topic, breaking the PDF file rules, or—if I recall correctly—spoiling things. We have reached a unanimous decision: we don't want you on Soap because you flat-out refuse to communicate like a civilized human being.

And please, spare us the fairy tales about how "the moderators are biased because they watch the show and root for Hurem" or "they targeted me while everyone else does whatever they want and their friends get special treatment." Even God is bored of those stories. As you admitted yourself, you’ve been warned multiple times and explained exactly why you received a warning or a strike, yet you chose to keep doing exactly what you were doing. By the way, just for the sake of transparency since you brought it up—you were causing trouble long before this, which is painfully obvious to the mods when looking at your collection of older strikes. Why you decided to start making life difficult specifically here on Soap, only you know that. The Parcial stands. That doesn't mean it has to be forever, though. Show a little willingness to actually follow the rules and show some understanding, and after some time, we will gladly consider lifting it.

Bradley Evans31 said:Looks like brightpuma finally managed to brainwash you. You're suddenly whining about the same old stuff on this forum just like we were last year.

I decided to leave the diaspora because that was exactly what the moderators wanted.

I hate making statements like this—I know they don't sound pretty—but when someone tries to twist my words like this, I can't just sit back and take it.

So, you... Bradley Evans31... you claim you left the diaspora "because that was the moderators' goal".

First off, I have absolutely no idea who you are. I even went through the archives, checking infractions and my own notes... still nothing. I have no clue who you are. So, next time you feel the urge to drop such a heavy accusation, maybe try leaving a single footprint on this forum so we actually recognize you. Because what you're doing right now? It's pure slander.

Second, it has never been the goal of the moderators to drive someone away . It’s actually the exact opposite. But if a user simply refuses to follow the rules in the PDF, I’ll ban them. And if they keep up that same obnoxious attitude, I’ll push for a partial ban. I am certainly not going to chase you around until you decide to walk away on your own.

We don't have those motives, we don't have that modus operandi, we don't have the time for it, and we definitely don't have the interest. I still don't know who you are, and please, stop spreading these insults. They're offensive.

edit🙏I took a quick look at your post history and your infractions... and honestly, I still don't remember you. So I fail to see how I could possibly be "persecuting" you until you choose to leave. Based on those few posts you left on the diaspora, you really shouldn't have shown up here.

jadedrifter2 said:I'm the one who opened the thread, so I kind of consider it mine... how is it that nothing was taken away?? On this new thread, it says we aren't allowed to ask anything related to moving here. The topic has basically been watered down to a chat thread about the weather, restaurants, and other trivialities... from what I've noticed on other forums (and myself included), this kind of "protection" usually does more harm than good. You can't hear people's actual experiences or find any useful tips/tricks that make the process easier or harder on official sites, which is vital—especially this year with all the changes coming to immigration rules.

That wasn't on the diaspora forum—that was on Love, or something like that, whatever, it doesn't really matter. I only brought it up as an example of a trivial topic used just to fill space—those kinds of things get plenty of room, while important stuff like emigration gets none.

Since questions about emigration are banned, what you're saying doesn't really make sense...

I don't think people realize that by locking these threads, you're essentially killing any chance for actual news exchange—and there's new stuff happening almost every single year. Some of these locked topics are 9 or 5 years old... in that kind of timeframe, everything changes. The same questions end up having totally different answers depending on the year, since immigration rules aren't set in stone.

No hard feelings, but you didn't—just give my posts another read. It doesn't make much sense for me to keep repeating the exact same questions over and over again... (check out my posts on page 66)

Don't take this personally, but I'm not going to do it. I hear what you're saying, but the Canada threads needed a breather. We had to stop this endless Groundhog Day loop of "I want to go to Canada—now what?" playing out two billion times. That’s why we did this: we compiled a master contact list of every relevant institution dealing with immigration, employment, housing, and legal status. All those topics are still open for anyone to browse, and if they use the search function, they'll find exactly what they need. These questions have been answered dozens of times already. This new thread exists because it earned its place; it shouldn't be a glorified information desk at a Greyhound station. A forum isn't a lifeline for emigration, yet way too many people treat it like one.

Look, if someone from the USA or Australia boards decided to jump in and help us build an identical list, it would save them from the constant barrage of mindless questioning. It’s exhausting for everyone involved. Every third post requires someone to repeat the entire saga from scratch just because some person is too lazy to follow the standard procedure and actually contact the proper authorities.

Of course, there’s still space for the outliers—those urgent, unusual, or specific (brief) questions. In fact, I think we even mentioned that for those rare cases, people should just shoot us mods a PM and we'll try to dig up the info.

The goal here isn't to exclude or punish anyone. It's about giving the diaspora back to the diaspora while ensuring that the people who truly need info can actually find it. And that mission is accomplished.

That doesn't mean we aren't open to ideas on how to balance both sides of the coin. There might be a better way, but we haven't found it yet, and as far as we can tell, this system works fine. If you or anyone else has a better way to handle this—speak up. We’re on the same team. 🙂

edit: To make things easier to navigate, I've moved all the closed Canada threads into a sticky. At least for now. That way, if someone is hunting for an answer, they don't have to hunt for a thread; they can just start a new one and use the search bar.

jadedrifter2 said:I’m a bit confused—why was my thread about Canada locked? Is there some kind of rule now against talking about Canada?

I mean, I thought I laid out pretty clearly why the topic should stay open, yet here we are. It feels a little lopsided when one serious discussion gets shut down, while something totally mindless—like that "swallowing" thread (I think that’s how it was titled)—is allowed to run wild with ten different sequels, where people basically just post emojis or a couple of words just to hit their daily post limit.

If the thread is locked, how are we supposed to actually connect with people who are planning to move under these new regulations? How are we meant to find those bits of practical advice that you won't find on any official government website, but which actually make the whole emigration process manageable?

It feels like Canada is being singled out here, whereas everyone can talk freely about Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and plenty of other places without an issue.

I’d really appreciate some answers to these questions—and please, let’s skip the generic canned responses. I'm looking for something specific.

Thanks!

It’s not locked just for you; it’s locked for the entire PDF section. It was specifically structured this way because there is now a dedicated thread for Canada questions, complete with links to all the relevant institutions and resources for anyone looking into immigration, paperwork, jobs, and so on. Also, while the Canada threads are locked to new posts, they remain available as a massive information resource for anyone interested—every single question has been answered a thousand times over. This was done to protect you guys; now you have a space where Americans can finally socialize without being constantly interrupted by the exact same repetitive questions. Nothing was taken away—it was simply organized.

Even though I explained the reasons for locking them, why does one serious topic get no space, while on the other hand, banal topics like "swallowing cum" (or whatever it's called) get full coverage and ten different sequels, where users just post emojis or a couple of words just to hit their post limit?

Pardon me, but where on the Diaspora have you ever seen discussions about swallowing cum or anything remotely like that?

How are we supposed to get insights from people who will be immigrating under the new rules if the thread is locked? How are we even supposed to find out the things that aren't written on official websites, the stuff that actually makes the immigration process easier?

This forum is a supplementary tool, not the alpha and omega of moving to another continent. All the material someone needs to stay informed is readily available to everyone. If you feel the need to answer someone's specific question, please just do it via PM.

Why is Canada being discriminated against, while you can discuss Australia, the US, New Zealand (and tons of other countries) perfectly normally?

Canada isn't being discriminated against. We plan to do the same thing for the other countries mentioned, but when we asked the forum members for help—people who know way more than we do—all we got was "get lost, kid."

I would like answers to all these questions, and please don't give me vague generalizations—give me specifics.

I hope I've covered everything and haven't been vague. If you have any more questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

You're welcome!

Don't mention it—that's what we're here for.

It didn't work because you dropped a raw URL instead of using the actual IMG tags... 🙂

Click this button and then just paste the direct image link into the pop-up window that appears...

In your case, it looks like this:

P.S. You also messed up the link location itself. To get the right one, right-click the image you want, select "Copy Image Address," and paste *that* into the window I mentioned above. You were just grabbing whatever was sitting in the browser address bar. 🙂
