And you can't just tell the doctor to prescribe Lamisil when you already know it works? Sorry if I'm talking nonsense here, but seriously, I'm curious. For any illness where I already know which specific med actually does the trick, I basically just tell my doctor exactly what I need them to write down for 😬 .
Grace Lewis6 and I both dealt with this—it was ages ago, though, so take that with a grain of salt—but fungi are fungi, right? We caught it from some stray cat wandering around the neighborhood. He had it on his leg, and I ended up with it on my arm. We just kept slathering on Lamisil and eventually, it vanished without a trace. We didn't do any crazy sterilization stuff or anything, and our dermatologist didn't even mention needing to 🤷
Look, a cream is just basic skincare, okay? You don't need some fancy prescription, you don't need a doctor's note, and you definitely don't have to be an adult to buy it. But seriously... don't go expecting some kind of miracle cure. It’s just moisturizer.
Honestly, you should probably just go get an MRI or something. It’s possible you’re dealing with exostosis, but you really need a doctor to confirm that for sure.
I actually have it on the outer side of my left shin, right below the knee—it feels like this hard, bony bump just under the skin, but then when I look at my X-rays, it barely even shows up.
So, if anyone’s actually interested, this is what the disease looks like as it progresses it goes down like this. Just got my diagnosis confirmed today. They're suggesting I start on Kennel injections and physical therapy, then maybe look into surgery later on if things get bad enough.
Apparently, it’s pretty rare in women. I can't help but wonder how fast this thing is going to move, though. And honestly, does anyone know if doing the Kennel shots and PT actually makes any sense?
Honestly, I’m just sitting here spiraling with doubt. I’ve got an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon next week, but the more I spend my time doom-scrolling through medical forums, the more convinced I am that... yeah, unfortunately, it’s exactly what I think it is.
I mean, it makes zero sense. My primary care doctor barely even gave me a proper look—just rushed through it, tossed out this diagnosis that doesn't sound harmless at all, and then had the nerve to tell me there was "no point" seeing a specialist or doing anything about it. Like, excuse me? So, naturally, I went ahead and booked a private consultation on my own. And get this—it gets even weirder—the person answering the phones at the clinic didn't even know who to send me to! They kept suggesting a dermatologist, so I had to be like, "Uh, I think I actually need an orthopedist."
Is it seriously true that you shouldn't take any action when symptoms first show up??
Look, you should probably just reach out to AquaFit. I actually asked them about this once and they gave me a whole list of manufacturers that handle stuff like this. I'll shoot you a private message with the name and email of their sales rep so you can talk to them directly.
I don't know much about syrups, but honestly, berry juice mixed with dried herbal tea tastes absolutely incredible.
I’m going to go slightly off-topic here—not totally, though, just call it a variation on the theme... anyway, I went out and gathered some blackberries and elderberries, then whipped up three little jars using this recipe
800 g elderberries 500 g blackberries juice from 1 lemon 1 kg sugar
Cook the elderberries with a few spoonfuls of water until they get soft. Mash them up. Pour that juice into a bigger pot, toss in the blackberries and the sugar, and let it simmer on low heat until all that sugar dissolves. Then, splash in the lemon juice, crank up the heat, and boil it for maybe 5 to 10 minutes.
I actually tweaked the whole thing because, I mean, I didn't bother weighing any of the fruit, I only threw in a few spoonfuls of sugar instead of a kilo, and I didn't even bother straining the berries—I just blitzed everything with an immersion blender. And you know what? I ended up with this gorgeous, super refreshing jam with a really unique flavor profile.😍
Kate Cox2 said:even just a little bit of frozen chicken (wrapped in some clean cheesecloth) so it doesn't swell up as much and maybe helps with the pain...
🤣
Oh my god, I am so sorry... but I am literally pissing myself laughing over here. I just totally pictured you walking around with a whole frozen turkey strapped to your head! 😂
Jeffrey Martin46 said:Look, I'm a guy, so I don't really need to see a gynecologist... haha...
Just a little heads-up for you—if those symptoms don't clear up, you're gonna have to see a urologist. And trust me, once you're sitting in that chair, you won't be laughing about being a man anymore.😈
I mean, I honestly don't think you even need to sweat it... she probably just totally forgot about this whole thread, let alone that absolutely gut-wrenching pain 😉
Mad Scientist said:Psychology has actually looked into this quite a bit—how being attractive ties into all sorts of things. Basically, in most cases, good-looking people just have it easier... they tend to be more successful, people trust them more easily, they even get lighter sentences in court. (I think there might be some weird outliers where being too attractive actually works against you... if I can dig up those studies, I'll write it all down...)
Exactly. It’s crazy, but they’ve even noticed how much it impacts later life—like how a spouse's looks or even what their parents looked like can affect how well kids do in school. It's everywhere, honestly.
Tochkica said:Yeah, but honestly, it all just depends on your attitude I mean, I know from experience 🙄
Depends on my attitude???
Oh, come on, what are you even talking about? And don't get me started on everyone else here... I mean, look, even daycare teachers in places like Chicago pay more attention to the cute kids, and don't even get me started on how people get picked for higher ed. And when it comes to getting hired, it's just 🙄 I'm not saying looking good is everything, but those people ALWAYS have an edge.
