Do you actually know what you want out of life? in Psychology & Therapy ·

Honestly, that’s more than enough to get things moving...😁
You just have to start somewhere...

Make some lists😉
Just jot down a few things you’re eyeing right now, maybe even some bigger dreams you're looking to tackle down the road...

I’d say I have a general sense of what I want out of life, though nothing is ever set in stone and I’m always open to things shifting along the way...😁
And I don't really stick to any specific timeline either.
For instance, this past year I actually knocked out a few things that I’d been telling myself I’d get around to "someday" for at least five years now.

But that wasn't my goal when I started this thread.

Say you want a great career and an opportunity pops up, but you have to move to another city or even another state to get it—do you still want that job as badly?

Or maybe you want a solid partner, but the situation requires moving far away again. Would you still be just as committed to that goal?

I’ve definitely moved around before for work, and honestly, I’d do it all over again for the right opportunity, but I haven't quite packed my bags for a relationship just yet...😬
It used to feel so much more daunting, all those big changes and everything else...

So, where do you usually pick up those padded envelopes and mailers, do you get them at local bookstores or just straight from the Post Office? And roughly how much do they run?

I'm not really sure what the prices are like at the subway stations, but at the Post Office, I usually pay around 4$1.75, and at bookstores it's probably about $1.25...

Why do some people need so much money? in Psychology ·
northernbadger4 said:Most of them probably just have deep-seated issues or complexes. Personally, I don't see the point in owning three yachts... or ten cars, five vacation homes, etc.

Though, if I actually had $100 billion, I know exactly how I'd spend it. 🙂 I certainly wouldn't waste it on cars, motorcycles, boats, or houses I don't need.

So if you aren't buying stuff, what on earth would you blow that much cash on?

dustytinker56 said:I agree. That is precisely the situation. However, in my view, there is a fundamental lack of decency when a President makes 20 $0.00 while someone like Mudrinić pulls in 80,000. That is exactly why I am not surprised to see certain politicians—nearly all of them, really—shoving their friends or relatives into positions through various "competitive" hiring processes. Honestly, most people would jump at such opportunities if given the chance, but their true corruption doesn't manifest in those appointments themselves; rather, it shows up in the sheer audacity of overcharging—like painting a damn tunnel seven times instead of two, or billing 10 million dollars for a bathroom in a million-dollar facility. That is plain old brazen theft, and it’s what needs to be crushed. These "competitions" for jobs are nothing more than smoke and mirrors; everyone knows who is getting the position before the process even begins. But the real issue is that once they have the job, the work isn't done properly, deadlines are missed, and the invoices are absurdly inflated. If they actually respected the work, we might achieve a standard of living comparable to Switzerland (though, let's be honest, Switzerland has its own ways of doing things too).

Well, look at it this way, the President gets paid out of the federal budget, whereas Mudrinić is getting his from a private corporation, so he wouldn't even have that kind of money if his company wasn't turning such a massive profit...😉

"Every single day, you open the papers and see more scandals involving millions of dollars in fraud. It seems people will go to any lengths to get rich—stealing, killing, cheating, just committing any kind of crime imaginable...

What's interesting is that almost all these dishonest schemes are pulled off by people who don't actually need the money to survive. We aren't talking about someone on the brink of starvation or someone who can't afford basic clothes and is struggling to stay alive. It's usually the middle class or the wealthy elite—people who have plenty, but simply never have enough. So much for that idea that greed is driven by necessity...

Sometimes these folks have so much wealth that three generations of their descendants couldn't spend it all, yet they still pull dirty stunts just to stack up even more.

There's something deeply tragic about money, isn't there? How it manages to ruin so many lives..."

So what’s the move for people who’ve already made it? Are you saying they should just retire from making money altogether and focus entirely on spending it?🤷
I think it's just human nature to always want to push forward, to aim for more, to find that better opportunity or land a bigger paycheck... I don't see anything strange about that at all.
Money isn't the tragedy here, it's just a necessity of life...😉
Senior year burnout: Too many responsibilities and zero sleep in Psychology & Therapy ·
If you aren't pulling twenty-hour days at college, you can probably find some time to catch some Z's😉
It’s totally normal to feel a little overwhelmed right now since everything feels so intense at the start of the semester, but once you actually get into the swing of things and manage your schedule properly, everything usually settles down...
Everyone has their own rhythm when it comes to sleep, and while most people seem fine on six to eight hours, there are always those outliers who need more or less...
If your body isn't used to running on very little rest, I wouldn't suggest forcing yourself into that kind of routine just for the sake of it...

I had my blood drawn, but apparently I'M NOT anemic... 🤷

How did your doctor decide it wasn't your thyroid just by feeling your neck?
It seems much safer to just give you a referral for a full exam so she can be absolutely certain...🤷
It could be anything from anemia (which isn't the case for you), exhaustion, thyroid issues, poor circulation, general hormonal chaos, or even just PMS...

Last summer, when it was 85 degrees at night, I was actually sleeping under a heavy comforter and a blanket, and once my doctor heard about that, she immediately sent me in for thyroid tests. Luckily everything turned out fine, it was just that my body was totally run down, so I was feeling a bit chilled...😬
Nowadays, I only really feel it during my period...
Best online payment cards? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
briskangler15 said:So, here’s my dilemma—is there actually an online account out there where I can make a payment or set up a transaction using just a standard checking account? Apparently, setting up PayPal requires a credit card, which is a bit of a roadblock for me since I can't get my hands on one right now. I’m trying to pick something up online, but I'm feeling pretty stuck without knowing what other options are out there. Any ideas? Elvis Presley! :-)))

You actually don't need a credit card for PayPal...
Personally, I've had my Bank of America checking account linked to my PayPal for years and it works perfectly fine without any issues at all...
You should check out the first page to see which cards are compatible with PayPal...
The Smiths in Movies ·
I really thought the concept had so much promise, but looking back, I just don't feel like they tapped into its full potential... They had all these great talking points—the marketing, the product launches, building up that hype, and having the Smiths acting like those neighbors whose lawn is always perfectly manicured—but they just didn't quite play it right. It’s such a shame...
Plus, that whole internal conflict the lead character goes through and everything that stems from it, I won't spoil it, but honestly, the movie might have actually been better if they hadn't 😬
Since this forum has always been such a favorite place of mine, I really can't say enough how grateful I am that someone actually stepped up to handle the moderation duties... On some of those other message boards where things are a bit more laid back, being a moderator is honestly such an exhausting job because you have to scroll through three entire pages just to find a single sentence that actually makes sense, especially when every single thread is just cluttered with endless strings of stupid emojis and mindless chatter. It’s honestly draining beyond belief...

I personally assume that anyone willing to take on a moderation role does so because they genuinely value having organized topics and meaningful discussions or just good old-fashioned fun, which is why they embrace such an unthankful task... So, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone on the team for doing it 😁

Brandon Ramirez said:That’s an excellent point. That’s actually why I joined Reddit in the first place. I originally came looking for some specific info, then realized this place has pretty much everything—literally anything I can think of.😉

Exactly, that’s really the best part about being on Reddit, there’s just a thread for absolutely everything you can imagine, so even if I have the most random, silly thought pop into my head, I know I'll find at least five other people ready to dive deep into a discussion about it 😁
I remember realizing a while back that no matter what I was searching for online, I'd almost always end up landing right here on Reddit, and I spent so much time just lurking and reading everything before I finally decided to sign up and join the conversation

I do all that too, but I'm at work. How do you fit going out and seeing people into all of that? It seems to me like this takes up a lot of time.

Actually, not really.
I don't do everything every single day. My little ritual is just grabbing a coffee in front of my computer to check out Reddit and a few news sites, which usually only takes about thirty minutes to an hour... I don't even watch TV, so I save quite a bit of time that way...😁
For instance, right now I'm getting lunch ready while scrolling through stuff during my breaks...
Last week I spent some time looking for new movies I might like and downloaded about 15 titles, and once I actually get around to watching them all, well, a lot of time will pass... when life gets busy, I'm just not online much, so I catch up on everything over the weekend instead...😁
There is definitely plenty of time left for socializing too. I was out for coffee this morning, now I'm back home, and later this afternoon I'm heading to the beach to relax, and once I get back I'll have some work to do on the computer, which basically means I'll just be taking five-minute breaks to browse the web here and there...😁
If I'm too busy, I simply stay offline and that's that...🤷

Brandon Ramirez said:Fair enough, then—why do you like being online so much?
This thread didn't really take off, though I thought it had potential to be interesting.🤷

Do I really need to break down why I enjoy being online so much? 😁

It always feels a bit strange to me when someone tells me they jump on the internet, scroll through Facebook for five minutes, and then claim they don't know what they're doing online... 🤷

I don't really pick up a newspaper, I barely even turn on the TV, so staying connected via the web is how I stay in the loop with everything happening in the world. Aside from this Reddit community, I usually just check one other site that's specifically related to my job, and then there's all the time I spend messaging friends. I use it to look up absolutely anything that crosses my mind—new movies, music, books, upcoming events—I download whatever I need, and I dive into learning about things I'm curious about...
Is that enough of an explanation? 😁
And honestly, how could I not love being online with all that available... 😍

I'm not quite sure what my options are in this poll, so I think I'll hold off on voting for now 😬

I just really enjoy being online 😍

And honestly, I don't get why people always try to draw these parallels suggesting that anyone who spends a lot of time on the internet is antisocial, or doesn't have a real life, or is somehow alienated, blah blah blah...
