I agree. I prefer a wider range as well, and I often use decimals for scores above a 7 because it allows for much greater precision. While some might find that approach irritating, it is simply how I operate. 😁For example, I gave the latest Batman a 3, whereas I gave Burton's version a 9. You cannot express such a significant disparity if you are limited to a five-point scale.🤣

Everyone has their own subjective perspective, and sometimes a movie lands perfectly even if it isn't objectively good. For instance, I’ve personally had to turn off films because the unrealistic scenes were just too much for me to stomach; if a movie starts grating on my nerves, I shut it down within ten minutes. However, I approached this one knowing exactly what I was getting into, simply wanting to be entertained. In that specific moment, it succeeded in entertaining me.
Finished the movie. It wasn't an absolute disaster to sit through until the end... but it was definitely bad. I need to go watch Deep Blue Sea as soon as possible just to remind myself what actual quality shark entertainment looks like.
When you consider Jaws, it remains the gold standard for shark movies. 👍

It’s honestly a shame to watch Robert De Niro sink into such mediocre roles and subpar films. He seems incapable of stepping away from that mobster persona, regardless of what he's cast in. He could have maintained his dignity like Clint Eastwood did. Even Sylvester Stallone has a smaller catalog of bad movies than he does. 🕺

I finally sat down to watch . As someone who plays games regularly, I found the film perfectly acceptable. Is it some groundbreaking masterpiece? No. However, when you consider the abysmal track record of video game adaptations lately, this easily sits within the top 1% of the genre. I have an affinity for Holland, though Wahlberg tends to be a bit grating as usual; nevertheless, the dynamic works well enough. All things considered, it was a quite solid way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
That said, I did watch the film, and I find myself in complete agreement with the sentiments expressed above.
It was decent entertainment. It certainly could have been much better and handled with more gravity. Sully doesn't even have the mustache 🙂. Some scenes are absolute disasters while others are genuinely excellent. That sequence climbing up the ship is identical to how it played out in the game.
