I’ve been stuck in a major series binge lately, but at this point, I'm just powering through because I want to see how they end. That obsessive, "can't-stop-watching" spark just isn't there anymore... 🙂
gentlejackal16 said:you really have to watch these movies to get why they're fun: I thought the ones parodying Black films (like Brokeback Mountain) were intense, if only more of them had poked fun at those genres!!! 🤣
I didn't really care for it myself...
I much preferred the bits at the start with Charlie Sheen and that ending involving Oprah Winfrey and Tom Cruise...
I caught this movie a couple of weeks back, and I have to admit, it was actually pretty good, though I didn't expect it to be quite this...
There’s a ton of funny dialogue (mostly between Diego and Sid), and some of the newer characters are pretty engaging too...
That said, I absolutely hated the ending. I can't stand it when movies try to push religion—especially Christianity—and unfortunately, this one does exactly that, which basically ruins the whole thing toward the end...
I watched the original version, though I still need to check out the dubbed one (I've heard the voice acting is actually decent). For those of you who prefer subtitles, good news: there will definitely be subtitled copies playing in theaters, so you're covered... 😉
We're talking about the latest from the legendary Terrence Malick...
Now, I personally consider The Thin Red Line to be one of the top 10 films I've ever seen, but I have to admit I actually turned this one off after about an hour... It just wasn't clicking for me. I'll probably try to finish it sometime this week, though I'm not holding my breath...
Such a shame...
It seems like his odd-numbered films hit different. His first and third were absolute masterpieces (Badlands and The Thin Red Line), but the second (Days of Heaven) and the fourth (New World) are just incredibly tedious. And honestly, with New World, the boredom isn't even the biggest issue...
I'd love to hear what everyone else thought if you've seen it...
I recently popped this one back into my player on DVD for the first time in about six years, and I have to say, it still holds up as one of the best—if not *the* absolute best—blockbusters you have to see from the last two decades...
In my opinion, nothing like Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, James Bond, Tomb Raider, or that kind of junk can even come close to this movie...
And let's face it, they all belong in the same category...
The film has the kind of humor I really enjoy (this DVD version even includes 8 minutes of previously unreleased footage), a straightforward plot, and a solid cast...
It’s definitely the perfect movie for just kicking back and unwinding...

Personally, I think Reese is a lock for Best Actress... And Hoffman for Best Actor... 😉

Once the lights came up, I had to listen to about ten trendy girls in boots tucked into their jeans trashing the film while simultaneously deciding which nightclub they were heading to next.
Honey, you still have a lot to learn about Americans... 😉
mr.Nature said:The magazine actually had quite a bit of humor, which was a nice touch. Their biggest gripe was that they barely touched on European films or directors. They only ever covered Lars von Trier and Lucas Modysoon, and even then, they eventually stopped because they started overdoing it by constantly treating them like untouchable icons.
Are you kidding me? How on earth can you claim Total Film actually contained humor?!
p.s. I apologize in advance if you find those incredibly moronic captions under movie photos funny. They have absolutely nothing to do with the actual films; they’re just trying to sell that old "I'm-trying-to-be-funny-with-this-stupid-text" garbage...
That's like saying Click is a hilarious publication...
And honestly, the fact that Total Film didn't write about European films was actually a huge plus. European film is totally OVERRATED, both here in the States and across the rest of Europe... 😉
Just finished watching the latest Frank Marshall flick (Alive, Congo) and I have to say, it was actually pretty decent...
It felt a little drawn out at times—which is weird since it’s only 110 minutes—but it definitely hits you right in the feels if you're human... 🙂
Basically, the story follows an expedition in Eight Below that gets hit by a massive storm, forcing them to pull out and leave their sled dogs behind to fend for themselves all winter... Supposedly based on a true story...
The cast was alright too (considering Paul Walker is in it)...

Total Film was nothing more than a pure blockbuster rag—just absolute trash masquerading as legitimate commercial journalism. It looks like Hollywood is trying to pull off both at once.
