To the left of the thread title, you’ll see a little blue house icon with a white checkmark inside. Just click that, and it'll jump you straight to the last post you read in the discussion. And honestly, why bother checking if someone quoted you if you aren't even planning on reading the posts that come after yours?

They reserve the right to edit, move, relocate, or delete any post or thread they deem to be in violation of the rules or otherwise redundant . Your user account may also be modified or terminated if the moderation team decides such an action is warranted. These terms are subject to change at any time without prior notice.

No post is ever deleted "without a trace of its existence," and I highly doubt it happens without cause. Both supermoderators and admins maintain visibility over deleted content. Look, you can keep repeating yourself all day long, but if those options aren't appearing on my screen, they aren't appearing. 😁 I would genuinely appreciate it if someone could just tell me how to actually get this done.
Oh, wow—I actually did it! I’d give anything to have known this sooner, but I suppose I was being a bit clueless. 😁 For the tech-illiterate among us: Administrative Tools Computer Management Disk Management Right-click the drive, select "Change Drive Letter and Paths," then hit "Add."
Thanks for the advice, but I’m still stuck on which option to actually pick. Besides, looking at this software, there isn't even an OS on the drive—just a massive pile of movies, series, and various other junk. It wouldn't be a huge loss if I ended up having to format it anyway.
Anyway, fine, I’ve gone ahead and used Change Drive Letter and Path, and now I’m going to reboot the PC to see if any of this actually works.
@wiredcyclist82/">@@wiredcyclist82 — I didn't. Honestly, I had no idea about the Event Viewer; none of the tutorials I watched ever even brought it up. 😁
@wearymason4/">@@wearymason4 To be perfectly honest, I have absolutely no clue what’s going on with this drive. It’s been acting up for quite a while now, and frankly, I was under the impression it had finally kicked the bucket. It’s entirely possible the OS is just corrupted, because if I recall correctly, my current C: drive was only installed as a quick fix after this one stopped behaving.
The day before yesterday, I was putting together a new PC and migrated my existing IBM (my primary C: drive) over, along with this one—though, let's face it, moving this second drive felt pretty much pointless at this stage. I can't bring myself to toss it, though; even if it is dead, maybe it'll miraculously recover when the stars align. So, I was genuinely caught off guard when I actually saw it showing up in Device Manager. 😁
I'm going to give that method goldenviper13 linked a shot. I actually have a USB stick running into the exact same issues as the IBM, so it'll be good practice. 😁
Hey everyone. I’ve been wrestling with this for two days straight now and I am officially done searching through Google. The issue is my IBM drive; it stubbornly refuses to show up in my computer, even though everything looks perfectly fine in both Device Manager and Disk Management.
All the advice I’ve found online suggests formatting the drive, changing the partition letter, and god knows what else. But formatting isn't an option (as you can see in the screenshot), changing the drive letter did absolutely nothing, and when I tried to manually update the drivers in Device Manager—even though there isn't an error icon next to the IBM drive—it just tells me the drivers are already up to date...
So... I'm asking for help! 😁
(Just so I don't confuse anyone with the screenshot: the part below my Computer Management window is actually just a picture from some website I found online showing where one would supposedly be able to format it 😁 ))
Maybe try clearing out your cookies and temporary cache in whatever browser you're running. I’ve been logged in via Chrome on my desktop all morning without a single hiccup. It occasionally happens that I get kicked off Tapatalk and forced to log back in, but that's clearly just due to server instability.
amberhound89 said:You people actually think you have the right to arbitrarily censor things just because they don't suit your whims; well, long live censorship!
By joining a forum, you essentially consent to this "arbitrary censorship," though in any sane discussion, we would simply call it moderation.
and so on, because apparently, it is just too much effort for some people to actually glance at other threads instead of blindly following the same tired arguments.
But if you actually bothered to use your head, the most vital thing would be to check the official announcements, where it clearly states:
She really should have taken a moment to browse through other threads on this topic first. And honestly, someone needs to teach her some manners regarding that all-caps title; it’s incredibly obnoxious.
I am planning to head over to the other subforum to upload these photos, but I can't find an option to insert an image anywhere. On top of that, you can only edit a post for a few hours before it's locked; after that, it's just impossible. Honestly, I don't think I've ever encountered a platform more frustrating than this vBulletin setup, especially when there are so many better alternatives out there.
I'm not entirely sure which specific board you're talking about, but from what I've heard, some sections don't allow photo uploads at all—whether that's by design or just a glitch, I couldn't tell you. You'd probably have to check with the moderators of that particular section. As for the editing restrictions, there is a limited window during which you're allowed to modify a post, and frankly, I find that perfectly reasonable; if you write a post and a massive debate breaks out, you shouldn't be able to swoop back in the next day and completely rewrite your original argument to suit the new direction of the conversation. 😁
Just click that "insert image" icon—it looks like a little picture right above where you start typing your post. Once that window pops up, just paste your link in there and hit "OK."
neongull93 said:I get it. But I still maintain that responding to those warnings should be perfectly fine. Just like what I pointed out in that other thread. It just feels like the moderators act as if they’re the absolute overlords of this entire site. Ultimately, I don't see why anyone should have to dance around a topic just to make it easier for the other side to swallow the fact that they screwed up. I value honesty, and that's exactly how I gave him my blunt response to his "advice," to put it mildly.
You don't reply to moderator warnings within the thread itself. Take it or leave it. If you have an issue with how things are being handled, there's an entire subforum dedicated to filing formal complaints.
You don't need to dance around anything, but you do need to follow basic standards of decent behavior. The mods aren't dictators; they're here to ensure the site actually functions. Just take a look at the unmoderated or poorly managed boards and tell me how that looks to you.
*The reason we don't allow replies to warnings is simple: threads are meant for discussing specific topics, not for getting into shouting matches with the staff.
neongull93 said:Haha, since you brought it up, I thought you were the one talking. I strongly disagree with the idea that moderators should be immune to commentary; the moment they post anything in a thread, they're participating, which means they shouldn't be treated as untouchable.
You have to distinguish between actual moderation—where they're performing their duties—and just tossing out an opinion within a discussion. First off, you don't push back against direct moderation, and second, any personal opinion shared by a mod should be subject to a reasoned, topic-specific debate. Moderators are users too, and those two roles are generally quite distinct.
For instance: "Please stop the off-topic chatter" is a formal warning from a moderator, and you don't argue with that.
But if a moderator writes, "Man, it's a beautiful sunny day out," in a weather discussion thread, then obviously a conversation will follow—especially if it's actually pouring rain outside.
@neongull93/">@@neongull93, we haven't actually clashed before—at least, I don't recall any such confrontation 🙂 I’m just acting as one of those mobile mods; you picked up a warning from a colleague, and I want to clarify why that happened. It was completely unnecessary, I agree, because if you had simply chosen a different tone, you wouldn't be facing a strike right now.
Regarding what moderators think about the rules, everyone should stick to commenting on the specific sub-forum they are responsible for. The rules can vary drastically from one section to another. Personally, I am satisfied with our guidelines and find them quite easy to follow. The fact that we receive so few complaints proves it—we hand out very few warnings, and when we do, it’s usually just people arguing over strikes received for criticizing the moderation team. And Nick already explained that part .
You can find the general forum guidelines here Most subforums maintain their own specific sets of rules, which serve as pinned topics to supplement the general ones; you can check the specific rules for this section right here
Off-topic discussion is permitted in some areas but strictly forbidden in others, though even where it is allowed, there are limits—if it’s prohibited, it will be clearly stated either in the PDF rulebook or within the opening post of the thread itself.
Given what seems to have triggered this debate, I'll clarify that in the mobile technology section, we allow a minimal amount of off-topic chatter, because frankly, it makes zero sense to let a thread about the Samsung Galaxy S7 turn into a shouting match about cheap brands from overseas. It is standard practice to direct users toward the appropriate threads to ensure the subforum stays organized, and all of this is explicitly laid out in the subforum rules; if you genuinely believe there is room for improvement, feel free to reach out to us with your suggestions.
However, responding to a moderator's routine request to move a topic with such blatant hostility and vulgarity is unacceptable and will be met with sanctions. Everything can be handled with a bit of basic decency.
Just follow the rules and you won't have any issues. As for anything being deleted, I suggest you actually read the forum's terms of service; it clearly outlines exactly what falls under moderation duties.
The question "which battery should I buy for my Lumia xxx" definitely doesn't belong here. The thread title tells you exactly what this discussion is about: a general overview of the Windows mobile platform. I honestly don't know how much clearer the title could be.
Specific questions regarding a particular device must be posted within that specific device's dedicated thread. That is how the entire Mobile Tech forum is structured, and since you admitted in your warning post that you were aware of this rule, it’s even more frustrating that you chose to ignore the guidelines set out in the Forum Rules for some inexplicable reason.
Let me explain exactly why you received a warning for this:
fadedsailor17 said:I had a good reason for posting it there instead of here, because people probably follow that thread more closely than this one, and I figured I'd get a better answer there. God, you mods are so obsessed with deleting posts... heaven forbid you just move it to the right place. Anyway, QUESTION: I need a battery for this phone. Does anyone know which brand makes the best batteries for this specific model or for Lumia phones in general? Aside from the original ones, assuming they actually are the best... if they even are. Thanks.
It's because of that first part where you're criticizing the moderation team. You clearly know where specific questions should go, just as you clearly know where a question about batteries belongs. The fact that you have these baseless assumptions about it being "better" to ask elsewhere is entirely your own problem.
