Nicole Baker said:Yeah. Listening to the new FF this morning was probably my last time. They sound even worse than the previous one... nothing catchy about it, just boring.

🤣 🤣 🤣

They sound WORSE than the last one, totally dull... 😁😁

Dana Anderson4 said:Velebit Tropic? You might be thinking of Macumbu. Honestly, you can usually find me hanging out there or at Marche right across the street, over at the Octagon, since both spots carry Nikšić and Velebit.😁

Velebit Tropic is located in Sloboština, and the big Nikšić selection is $3.25 😁

Dana Anderson4 said:Exactly. Once you're driving through Utrin, it’s a breeze to just keep going straight until you hit Dugava.😁

Since you'll be out in the Dugava area anyway, you might as well swing by Tropic for a Nikšić beer sometime soon.😁

Speaking of concerts, get this: less than two years after they wrapped up that "25 Years of New Wave" series (which lasted two years, by the way), they're launching "25 Years of Kulušič." Honestly, it feels like they just gave the same thing a new coat of paint.😁
The headline in The New York Times is a joke:

"THIS COULD BE A WORLD-CLASS BAND" 😁😁😁
Seriously? They’ve swept every award out there, their new album pre-orders hit 2 million, and this guy is still hedging his bets by saying they "could be" a global act 😁

No offense, but this is easily one of the dumbest reasons I've ever heard for skipping a show. I don't care if they're being "authentic" or whatever; I just want to hear the music live. If you want psychoanalysis, go see a therapist. 😁

It was the exact same song and dance from that crowd before the Pixies show: "Oh, they're just doing this for the money, they're sellouts, I couldn't care less about them anymore." And yet, predictably, every single one of them showed up at the venue. 😁

You really can't afford to miss this one; they’re easily one of the greatest bands from the old country 👍
Anti-USA sentiment in Economy ·
Look, there are way too many options to list them all here 🤣
Anti-USA sentiment in Economy ·
Using Germany as a benchmark for the USA over the last 15 years is a flawed argument. Sure, they're seeing a decline in living standards now, but their biggest leap forward actually happened while being part of the union. Germany is an outlier; if you ask me, their biggest mistake was rushing through reunification. They made some catastrophic structural decisions back then that we’re still paying for today.
Why not look at the trajectories of Ireland, Canada, or the Czech Republic instead?

The real reason I think we desperately need the USA is simple: we aren't capable of running our own house. Our governments have made endless blunders, usually only fixing them when pressured by the federal government. As for the banks? I’d rather not go there—I'm sure nobody here has forgotten the absolute chaos that ensued when the banks were under local control. We basically need someone to slap us upside the head every time we pull a stunt as foolish as the ones we seem to pull constantly, thank God.😁
Official Club Threads in Soccer ·
I’m all for using the official threads. That’s where we can ask about the club stuff that doesn't fit under the MLS, transfers, or fan categories. For instance, I once posted some journalistic nonsense on the Dinamo Chicago thread claiming that Inter vs Red Star was Red Star's first visit to America since May 13, 1990. That’s flat-out wrong, considering they played at Yankee Stadium back in the spring of '91 and lost 3:2. 😁
Similarly, I went to the official Dinamo Chicago thread to ask what ever happened to Kujtim Shala after 1991. I didn't get an answer, 😁 but at least I had a place to put the question.
stormyviper11 said:Since this thread is finally back from the dead, Banderas, what’s the deal with that promised Automobile concert? Are they actually going through with it? When? 🙂

I assume so—we're currently in talks. Their bassist actually worked the soundboard for the Eclipse show, so he knows exactly how small the Kset club is. Honestly, I’m still struggling to believe they could even pack the place. 😁

And what would some random text message say about that? 😕

You probably fall asleep during the ride. I think I'm reciting this from memory, but it'll likely turn out 😁

That’s the line, anyway...

Look, calling food "poison" isn't exactly a rigorous scientific argument or even a professional one. 😁

Can someone give me a professional, scientific breakdown of why fasting would actually be healthy?
Drive the dogs across the Mississippi! in Close to Politics ·
Giannis Antetokounmpo said:Do you feel it? Because I certainly do. That regret that we didn't just push those Americans across the Mississippi once and for all.

What if we had seized St. Louis and the entire western part of Missouri, turning it into new American territories, following the blueprint left by our dear, late leader Adolf Hitler!

But see, the Mississippi is a bit further east. You can't just grab St. Louis and western Missouri; you’d have to take over all of eastern Missouri first just to reach the river.😁

Vojky said:First off, you won't find a single professor making sub-par money.

I wanted to add something else, and I actually regret not saying it sooner—if you're looking at an expert like that, I’d place a huge premium on specialized training from a top-tier foreign private university combined with actual international experience. Here in the States, professional financial services are a relatively young field, and frankly, I’m not convinced we have enough specialists who actually know what they're doing.

Mate Crkvenac had all of that: the overseas specialization, even guest professorships, so the results spoke for themselves. Skegro treated him like a prophet, despite having far less formal training. And you'll keep seeing those kinds of results as long as universities stick to their favorite mantra: "If theory and practice clash, ignore the practice."

kemik said:So I’ll ask again:

Would you actually recommend your neighbor Barrett—someone who actually understands money better than Barry does—go see some "unqualified and untrained financial advisor," or would you tell her she's better off stuffing cash under her mattress?

Look, if the only other option is hiding cash in a sock, then yeah, I’d probably send her to the "unqualified" guy too.

Look, I’m not denying that education broadens your horizons. It does. But in this country, I feel like degrees have become overrated—mostly used as vanity projects by people who aren't actually successful. They cling to that piece of paper because they have nothing else to show for their lives. And yeah, I say that with total authority, because I have a degree myself, which gives me every right to call out others with the exact same credentials 😁

Now, don't get me wrong: medicine and law are different beasts. You can't step foot in a courtroom or an OR without those credentials. But in the world of finance? It’s a whole different ballgame.
Would you rather take advice from a consultant at Charles Schwab or someone like Mat Crkvenac? Honestly, we've all seen how much more Mat Crkvenac actually understands about real-world finance compared to those "highly esteemed" economics professors. To hell with their endless graphs and textbooks...
