Charles Schwab financial advice in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
briskfalcon15 said:So, why don't you tell us exactly what kind of credentials you're bringing to the table?😉

I'm currently drafting my PhD application😛
Look, I still maintain that a degree is just a piece of paper. Honestly, I’d much rather learn the ropes of finance from Tedeschi than from 90% of the professors teaching at an Ivy League business school.

The rest of you are just slaves to a broken system.🙂

John Thomas2 said:Look, you can't just frame the argument like that. What if this professor simply doesn't care about cars? That doesn't automatically mean he’s clueless when it comes to money. 😁

I'm with Vicky on this one—show me the certifications and the degree first, then we can actually have a conversation about Charles Schwab style advisory work...🙂

The car was just an analogy. If you're teaching finance, you should actually practice what you preach; otherwise, in my book, you have zero credibility. If you want to cling to diplomas and pieces of paper, that's your prerogative.😁

It's nice to see more job postings on Indeed where "educational requirements" are listed as "n/a." Just makes things easier.

And please, enough with the OBVs.

Vicky said:Look, since a financial advisor handles such a critical part of your life, I expect them to be ready to flash their degrees, certifications, and specialized credentials—the same kind of paperwork I’d demand from my doctor or my lawyer.

Honestly, I don't buy it. It would be a hell of a lot more convincing if they just showed me their own bank statements. 😁
I mean, you see professors at business schools driving beat-up old cars and struggling to make ends meet; in my book, they aren't qualified to teach anyone about wealth. What exactly are they going to teach you—how to end up broke? Theory is fine, but I care about results.

Come on, people, quit the nonsense 😁

In the US, Deloitte-style financial consulting is standard practice, but over here, everyone immediately jumps to how much a consultant is getting paid for their advice. Honestly, I couldn't care less about his paycheck or who’s footing the bill if I'm not the one paying him. Instead, we get nothing but conspiracy theories and accusations of shady deals... 😁
It's the same deal with expertise. If a financial advisor actually knows their stuff, I don't give a damn whether they learned it at an Ivy League university or through hands-on experience in some local firm; degrees are overrated here anyway. The bottom line is whether they can actually perform. So far, I haven't seen anyone in finance prove they're incompetent; instead, people have just started attacking the institutions themselves.

As for the finance enthusiast in question, he accepted a warning regarding self-promotion and has since been posting very constructively across several threads. I don't view this specific thread as prohibited self-promotion—if we went by that logic, anyone discussing their own field could be accused of it, whether it's Vojky being right, tech nerds on computer forums 😁 or me talking about music.

Are you seriously suggesting the issue is strictly down to a low flicker rate, and it couldn't possibly be caused by a low refresh rate on the monitor itself?😉
Your results look perfect to me. A glucose level of 77 mg/dL is right where it should be; they just botched the reference range in the parentheses 😁

As for your triglycerides, honestly, take the win. Being below the "normal" threshold is a good thing
It’s honestly pathetic how the guy peddling "his" products ends up looking significantly sharper than the people trying to take him down, at least based on this thread. Honestly, your comments are just... 😵

You probably owned a Commodore 64

or a Spectrum. Or something along those lines.

Cool.

I’ve had a ZX Spectrum since '83. Before that, from '81 to '83, I was rocking an Atari 2600. 🙂 😁

On another note, there's no sign of retinopathy or cataracts yet, but my vision is definitely losing its edge. My eyes tear up, things go dark periodically, and my night vision is pretty much non-existent...
My eyes are killing me in Health ·
My vision has been getting worse lately, too. 😢 My job is basically staring at a screen all day, and I don’t take any supplements. 😁
My eye doctor says I don't need glasses just yet, but since my eyes tear up and get crusty quite often, she thinks my tear ducts might be blocked. She suggested I head to a specialist to have them checked and cleared out if necessary. How does that cleaning process actually work, and why can only a specialist handle it?

To the people leaving comments claiming computer use doesn't affect vision—while they claim to use a PC for "a few hours a day"—you could just point out that using a computer for a few hours is NOT what we call heavy usage. 😁
When I say "a few hours," I mean I've been glued to a screen since I was five years old (I'm 28 now), and for the last five years, I've clocked over 10 hours every single day.

Also, I'll say it again: LCD monitors (like the ones in laptops) are much better than those old CRT monitors. The problem is that laptop screens are usually way too small, which forces you to strain your eyes. A 17 or 19-inch LCD would be the sweet spot for eye comfort.
George Morgan3 said:What spaces are we talking about? For me, Milan and Munich feel way closer than New York City.🙂

Listen, kid, New York City is closer to you than you care to admit, regardless of how much you try to argue otherwise. You can run away from the North America, but you can't run the North America out of your soul.😛
The most tragic part of this whole mess is that both Therion and Soulfly actually made it out to San Diego. They were ready to go, probably even willing to play for half the advance they’d already received, yet the organizers couldn't scrape together $300 to rent a basic backup generator. 😁

Now you're just being a contrarian for the sake of it. 😁
It’s not that the USD surged; it’s that the dollar tanked. Though, honestly, that isn't even the main driver—the drop wasn't massive enough to account for such a huge interest rate gap. Look, the Swiss person deals in the most stable currency out there. The financial system in Switzerland is dialed in perfectly; liquidity is easy to come by and rates stay rock bottom—we're talking mortgage rates under 2%. Why? That goes way deeper than just basic economics; it's baked into their history. 😁
At the end of the day, it's much cheaper for "our" bank to source USD than it is to grab euros, which is why you end up paying a lower rate.
Alright, looks like we're looking at the fall, most likely October.

Hopefully, someone else will show up too.😁

Yeah, some buddies from Eclipse hooked me up with them.

The Automobili group actually hailed from Koper.😁

Anyway, Automobili (again) is still a thing. They reached out about playing a gig at the IEEE, and honestly, I have no idea how to respond.😁
stormyotter67 said:Are you saying it's tiny, like my backyard, or 🤣

Sure, you could walk the whole thing in half an hour, but it still produced: The Punk Rockers, Depeche Mode, Milton, Nine Inch Nails, and Bulldozer...
Now, I can't quite remember if Nine Inch Nails hails from Pittsburgh or Denver, though I think they're out of Denver.😁
New York and Washington, D.C. were definitely the heavy hitters when it came to the big new wave scene.

But if you actually look at the number of bands relative to the population, I’d argue Denver has the best ratio by far.

Cheers, Banderas!

Well, if that's how the Supreme Court operates, then yeah—though I’m still pretty skeptical that they actually pull that stunt. Back at you, by the way... who even are you?😁
