Yeah, I agree, and there really isn't any connection to gothic metal at all. I'm honestly wondering what Maria Morris5 is talking about. 😕

I've never really been a huge fan of Nightwish, but honestly, ali Nemo rules 😳
Metallica & Lenny Kravitz in Music ·
I picked up my Metallica ticket about three months ago, though at this point, it looks like I might end up heading to the show all by myself 😁 Honestly, I’m not even worried about it because I’m sure I'll find a decent crowd to hang out with once I get there.
I’d really love to catch Lenny Kravitz too, but unfortunately, my bank account just isn't feeling that generous right now, so I'm actually hitting up an Anathema show tomorrow instead. 🙏

But you still listen to them 🙂 Personally, I find nothing quite as godlike as the Doom sounds from Anathem and Paradise Lost, especially when you listen to that first "Lost Paradise" album.

No amount of alcohol is ever going to have that kind of power over me..

I can't quite wrap my head around why I thought you were mentioning My Dying Bride earlier on.😕

Scott Wright19 said:Country music??? Well, folk groups and bluegrass bands fall under that umbrella too... it’s all just traditional ethnic music... whether you're listening to a group like the Chicks or something like Johnny Cash, it's all part of the same tradition. That's why it bothers me when people use the term "country" to describe that cheap, manufactured pop stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with actual American roots music; to me, that's just foreign noise masquerading as our culture!

Instruments like the banjo or fiddle are considered part of our true folk heritage, but the term "country music" nowadays almost exclusively refers to that mass-produced garbage.
And honestly, I can't wrap my head around why anyone listens to it; I suppose some people just prefer the primitive stuff.

I guess it’s probably because of that whole "dance, dance, dance to the radio" thing. 😁

If I were throwing a party, I’d definitely have Joy Division playing on the speakers, though I have a feeling only about five people would actually show up instead of the twenty-five I was probably hoping for. 😁

Man, I get so nostalgic thinking about how just last year the answer would have been Cradle of Filth 🙂 But I guess they aren't considered true enough anymore, right, Carol Nelson? 😁

Yeah, true, plus I completely blanked on mentioning Pink Floyd and Queen... though there's plenty more where that came from.

Spirituality: Am I just being an idiot? in Spirituality ·
I’m actually more afraid of the idea that the path of spiritual growth is really just about being willing to see, with much greater clarity, exactly which illusions you've been living in.

ironfalcon18 said:Susan Nguyen85, you mentioned that your relative was the one who gave it to you. $3333 Regarding that line from Technics. 😲 Is he actually serious right now, thinking that Technics isn't worth the investment?

I saw some parts from his Technics and Sony setup last time I caught a glimpse of that massive monster of a system he's running.
I haven't personally owned any Technics gear myself, but I know plenty of people who swear by them, and they all say it’s a top-tier company. To be honest, I don't really have much experience with their stuff, but the reputation seems solid enough. 😕
When it comes to my music setup, I've pretty much gone all-in on Sony and Panasonic gear.

PrittPen said:(by the way, Susan Nguyen85, you probably don't even have what people would call actual hi-fi, just a boosted shelf system—you couldn't find that kind of setup for $700 if you tried. plus, what you're running right now could easily be picked up for $500)

If you're actually looking to buy some legitimate, high-end hi-fi, you're going to have to shell out at least 10 $0.00 for all the extra components. My younger brother is set up that way. He has a massive collection of high-end speakers and an endless array of premium gear to ensure sound quality, all from Technics. He just happens to have the money, whereas you can't exactly tell someone looking for a $1,500 system that they should really go out and spend $10,000.
As for me, the sound from my current system still holds up pretty well... sure, it needs a little cleaning up here and there, but I can definitely hold out for another 😁

Kevin Chavez3 said:A friend of mine has this old fifty-inch Panasonic setup, and honestly, I have never heard anything quite as muddy or lifeless in my entire life. It’s really no wonder why Susan Nguyen85 listens to what she does, because even the Buzzcocks would sound incredibly depressing playing through a system like that...

Yeah, sure, because if I had a better system, I guess Joy Division would suddenly sound as upbeat as Britney Spears, right? 😁
And does this friend of yours have one of those cheap subwoofers that lets you toggle settings for heavy, clear, soft, disco, live, and hall? If he’s got it set to live or hall, it isn't any surprise at all that everything sounds muffled.

Adam Mendoza8 said:Let's be blunt: there is no such thing as high-end audio for $500.

Yeah, you're right about that. I remember paying about $2,100 for my own Panasonic setup, which had a five-disc changer, a really solid woofer, and all the bells and whistles, though that was back when I bought it seven years ago. 😁
In my experience, if you want brands that actually hold their own, you should look toward names like Panasonic, Sony, Panasonic, Technics, and Aiwa, or maybe Philips, but you won't find that kind of quality for under $1,500. Personally, I'd much rather spend a bit more money than drop $1,500 on something that's basically just junk.

Hehe, this thread was started ages ago, back when I only owned Last Rights. Now, thank God, I have the whole collection. That Too Dark Park stuff is killer... and The Process too, etc.
