The truth in a world full of lies!!! in Spirituality ·
Maher, beautifully put.
I really want to hammer home that last paragraph of yours, and honestly, I’ll go a step further—there isn't a single lie in my life. That's just how I chose to live; I surround myself with people who operate the exact same way.

The truth is, I always start from the assumption that everyone is telling the truth. If someone decides to lie, that's their own baggage to deal with, and it doesn't shake me one bit. Even after I've had a couple too many glasses of wine, I don't have any secrets or shady business going on like so many other people.

Some folks might think I'm missing a few screws, but I'm telling you, life is just better when there aren't hidden agendas everywhere—when you're honest, open, and actually mean what you say.
Looks like we have a new Right-wing party: National Guard in Close to Politics ·
Look, this guy lived and worked under the shadow of Marshall’s boot, so he actually understands what it takes to enforce some real order, hard work, and actual discipline.
Besides, we don't even need school resource officers or security anymore, because with the way things are going in this democracy, people are getting killed off every single day—which basically means everyone’s gonna know exactly how to pull a trigger when the time comes.
wirednomad42 said:That’s exactly my point—that's why I'm constantly spiraling about whether I'll actually pull this off.

I'm looking at her right now. Just sleeping. She's the most beautiful thing ever—honestly, nothing in the entire universe compares to my daughter.
How am I supposed to ignore that weight of responsibility? How can I *not* want to build her some kind of damn empire just so she has something to play with? 😁

Side note—what am I doing to her little psyche by telling her she's gorgeous about 800 times a day? 😍

Look, every mother thinks her kid is the most beautiful thing in existence, provided they’re sane and actually wanted the kid in the first place.
My first son—and honestly, even today I can’t find the right words to describe how stunning he was—was just breathtaking. And yeah, I used to tell him the exact same things you’re telling your girl, maybe just slightly less than 800 times a day. Now he’s grown up, tall, blonde, and handsome as hell, but... he hates his looks. He is genuinely convinced he’s ugly!?!
I messed up, totally unconsciously, and I still haven't figured out how to forgive myself for it.

Then there's my second son, who was just as beautiful as his brother, but he’s the complete opposite. Even now, when I tell him how good-looking he is—he’s tall, got wavy dark hair, those big deep blue eyes—he just goes, "Yeah, I know!"

What I'm trying to get at is that you really need to be objective and pay close attention to how your kid actually reacts to what you say, because all that intense love and constant praise doesn't always land the way you think it will. Sometimes, it just turns into pure narcissism and other nasty personality traits.
It’s always just the hypocrites and the social climbers who find joy in forcing things on people.
I feel like we all hit that point in life where everything just gets heavy and you realize you haven't actually laughed in forever, you know? And then, out of nowhere, some little dog toy rolls into your living room or something—just this tiny little thing that wants to play—and I swear, I can't help myself, I just start laughing out loud, totally genuine and unhinged.

Honestly, nothing beats a good laugh; it’s easily one of the best things you can do with your life.
Do you believe in angels? in Spirituality ·
I don't buy into that whole thing about angels with wings.
But I definitely believe in that gut feeling that my late grandma is still right there by my side, watching over me and keeping an eye on how I carry myself.
placidranger said:I wouldn't say it's evolved—meaning the "moral compass" itself hasn't shifted over the last hundred thousand years. It's stayed the same.
What *has* changed is the general attitude toward the value of life, driven by the rising standard of living we enjoy today.
History shows plenty of examples of tribal communities living in peace simply because they had enough resources to avoid fighting over them. When resources get scarce, the value of a human life hits rock bottom.
Assuming you believe some kind of evolution even occurred, where do we go from here? With apocalyptic scenarios looming over everyone right now, it wouldn't be hard to slide back to pre-Chris times—or even worse.

If the value of life scales directly with our standard of living, then globally, we can probably expect to end up like the Scandinavian countries. 🤷

Totally agree!
A parent gives a damn about their kid, and a kid cares about their parents, and yeah, maybe a tiny circle of people you actually love or have skin in the game with, but once you step outside that bubble, just forget it.

Every single day someone dies or gets caught in some tragedy, and to us, it’s just another headline on the news that we shrug off without a second thought. A neighbor passes away... oh, my God... that’s basically how we process it, right?

There are so many of us on this planet, new lives pop up constantly, lives get snuffed out just as easily... so where's the big deal? Where's the evolution in all that?
I feel numb to other people's suffering in Psychology & Therapy ·
So, have you finally reached some kind of total Nirvana, or did someone just give you a massive headache that forced you to go Google the answer?
I honestly don't buy that you're just completely devoid of feeling or empathy, though. It’s more likely that you just don't let yourself actually process any emotions on the surface.

Whatever, man, don't waste your energy overthinking it; just embrace who you are and move on.
I just can't bring myself to get angry at anyone in Psychology & Therapy ·
Morgan Kern3 said:Is it actually possible to go through life without getting angry at anyone?
Come on, think about it. That’s just not realistic. Honestly, I don't think it's even healthy. A little bit of anger—even if it's minor—is just part of being human. It's like an ecosystem; if you wipe out a specific insect or plant species, you throw the whole natural balance out of whack. Life works the same way. If you strip away an essential part of the human experience like anger, you end up disrupting your own internal cycle.
You need to toughen up a bit. If you're always this passive, people are going to walk all over you. Start treating yourself like an actual individual with boundaries. 🙄

Look, we're all made of emotions, so getting mad is just part of the deal.
Maybe I've got a few more years on me, or maybe I've just spent more time watching how people act and reflecting on my own bullshit. I've always been a pretty high-strung, temperamental person, and I used to get triggered left and right.
But a long time ago, I realized that blowing a gasket is really just wasting energy for nothing, so I started working on myself. And honestly, that self-control actually fixed my life's rhythm, just like you were saying.

Nobody wants to hang out with someone who’s constantly on edge or has a hair-trigger temper. I really hope that one day you realize it's much better to channel that rage into something that actually matters, and once you find that chill, you'll start passing that vibe onto the people you hang out with.
Minimalism and moderation! in Philosophy ·
Look, both Asceticism and pure hedonism are just total extremes, right? Neither one is actually good for you if you're looking at the big picture.
Sometimes you gotta dive headfirst into those wild ends just to see what happens, but honestly, finding that sweet spot of moderation in everything is the only way to go.
I just can't bring myself to get angry at anyone in Psychology & Therapy ·
I don't get angry at people!

Honestly, it’s such a relief to see someone else on the same page here. For the longest time, I genuinely thought I was some kind of prehistoric relic for feeling this way, but... turns out there are others of us.
I mean, what’s even the point of getting worked up? What do you actually gain by holding a grudge against someone?
It just drains my own battery, you know? It's a total waste of energy that I could be using somewhere much more productive.
I truly believe we all have the right to think whatever we want. If someone wants to sit around wallowing in negativity or harboring bad thoughts, that’s entirely their burden to carry, not mine.
I can't help but feel like this mindset is kind of a higher level of consciousness. It isn't about being passive or indifferent, it’s just about having that deep understanding and accepting everyone exactly as they are. At the end of the day, that’s basically the whole core of those Eastern philosophies anyway.
Don't you worry about that, they're all on you.

We're starving for a miracle... in Spirituality ·
wearyowl29 said:We can't survive without water, food, or sleep, but we also can't thrive without a little magic. We crave miracles just as much as a thirsty plant craves a drink.
Sure, we could technically stumble through life without ever knowing love or being loved. We could manage to navigate an alienated, lonely world... but the moment we reach out for something miraculous, everything changes. We need them. But why?

Whether it’s overnight healings, sudden spiritual awakenings, undeniable physical signs, saints with a heavenly scent, weeping statues, the sun itself defying physics, the Shroud of Turin, or even a freshly unearthed relic from Noah's Ark—it doesn't really matter what the specific event is. What matters is that they carry that essence of wonder meant specifically for us.
That sense of wonder is pure soul food!

Miracles actually happen—they really do—but they aren't for everyone. One psychologist I know says you have to be truly open to them by maintaining a positive mindset. Honestly, in this day and age, staying positive is a miracle in itself! Looking at life through a hopeful lens and seeking out the good... maybe it sounds a bit naive, but hey, it might just work. Action creates reaction.

Positive thinking plus a belief in miracles equals... well, miracles. Miracles don't have hands, so they can't exactly walk up and turn our doorknobs for us. We have to leave our doors wide open. 😲
I just hope we don't accidentally let something else slip in instead...☕
I mean, how can someone who refuses to believe even expect a miracle to show up?

Miracles have used their own kind of alchemy to turn skeptics into believers; they take root
whenever faith starts to flicker and fade, recruiting a whole new following. You could say miracles are a heavenly flick of a magic wand that transforms our lives—if we let them... 🤷 or perhaps miracles are just the ultimate expression of our longing for proof, a desperate search for meaning... or who knows, maybe it's something else entirely...

What are miracles to us, if not the very thing we thirst for most?

That’s exactly it, that whole positive mindset thing.👍
Take my grandmother, for instance; she was a true believer, always looking on the bright side and treating everyone and everything with kindness. If you asked me, she was basically a saint.
The way she lived her life shaped me into the exact same kind of person, someone genuinely positive. To me, that right there is the miracle.

Now my kids are growing up and I’m passing that same energy down to them, regardless of the world around us, how messy life gets, or whatever other hurdles come our way.

I surround myself with people who vibe on that same level, and looking back, I don't regret a single thing about my past.
I might not be rolling in cash, but spiritually and intellectually? I'm loaded.
Can you even imagine a bigger miracle than that?
It’s probably just the moon's influence, honestly. You really shouldn't brush that stuff off.

My son has been acting totally bizarre ever since he was little whenever there's a full moon. Like, it'll be late at night and someone rings the doorbell, and when I open it, there he is standing at the door—eyes squeezed shut.
Then the next morning, I'm heading out to work and find out he's been sleeping in the bathtub.
He'll wake up around 3:00 AM and just go pee in his slippers. Another time, he was dragging furniture around. And the crazy part is, he never remembers a single thing we talk about the next day.

Every single time the moon is full, we have to be on high alert, like someone has to stay up and keep watch.
Supposedly, there's no cure for this kind of thing.
Allin in Health ·
To anyone out there struggling with weight issues or just feeling like they're carrying too much extra baggage, you seriously need to look into Dr. Močinić and his specific protocols.
It’s all completely natural and backed by actual results.
I’ve got this buddy of mine—huge guy, stands about 6'6" and weighs 285 lbs—and he managed to drop down to 240 lbs in just three months, and man, he looks incredible now.
The whole foundation is this herbal tea blend that you have to drink about 1.5 liters of every single day, provided you actually stick to the dietary guidelines they give you.

Seriously, gentlemen, do your homework on him. It’s way more affordable and doesn't leave you with those nasty side effects you get from all the junk being pushed on the market right now. Losing weight is a marathon, not a sprint, and it isn't going to happen overnight if you want it to actually stay off.
Kegel exercises / Kegel muscles in Women's Health ·
Giving birth, miscarriages, and all that other stuff can definitely weaken those muscles for some women.
But honestly, genetics plays a huge role too.

For instance, my mother-in-law actually had to go under the knife for bladder surgery when she was only 45 because things just weren't holding up. Same thing happened to my sister-in-law, too. She ended up needing surgery as well. And let me tell you, those procedures only last a year or two before you're right back where you started.

I’ve been pretty lucky in that department, though. Even after three births—babies weighing 4kg, 4.5kg, and 5kg—my husband says I’ve still got the same grip I had before they were born.
What is this? in Psychology & Therapy ·
I mean, look, doing everything by the book is fine when you’re flying solo. It’s all about that grind, staying disciplined, keeping things tight.
But let’s be real... eventually, you’re gonna hit a wall and burn out, and then things are gonna get messy.

My husband is basically the exact same way as you, especially when it comes to his wardrobe. For him, it isn't even about if it's actually freezing or warm outside, he just insists on wearing what the season dictates. His desk is always surgically clean, too. When he makes the bed, I'm talking hotel-quality, not a single wrinkle in sight. If we're watching a movie, he has to track every single detail perfectly. Everything he touches, he does with this intense, perfectionist energy where it literally couldn't be done any better.

So, honestly? I make a point of being a little bit of a mess just so he's got something to do.
What is power? in Spirituality ·
At its core, power is really just a fancy word for responsibility, duty, and obligation.

Think about it, starting with the smallest building block of our society—the family unit.
If you’re a parent, you hold this massive amount of influence to steer your kid toward a certain path in life. That’s your duty, plain and simple. Now the question is, am I going to use that leverage to force my own unfulfilled dreams onto them (just because I have the muscle to do it)
or am I actually going to be responsible and wise enough to pay attention, see what they’re actually good at, and guide them based on who they really are?
That’s where most people trip up, honestly; they totally misunderstand how to handle the power they've been given.
Why is everyone so intolerant lately? in Psychology ·
Look, anyone who actually claims to be a believer—and I mean a *real* one, not just someone going through the motions—simply can't be a racist, or intolerant, or some kind of bigoted jerk...
At the very least, they’ve gotta be striving for perfection, even if we all know it's basically impossible to actually reach it.

Whether they put their faith in Yahweh, Allah, Manitou, nature... honestly, it doesn't matter which God they follow, what matters is that they are a true believer. And let's be real, every single faith comes with its own set of codes and incredibly high moral standards.
Ticklishness in Psychology ·
Sean Cruz said:So, you're dealing with extreme ticklishness? Great topic—I’ve been looking for answers myself. If someone ever decided they wanted me dead, this would be the perfect method.

Welcome to the Club !!!
When I was just a little kid, my mom used to grab me by the legs and tickle me until I was basically unconscious. There is absolutely zero chance I'm ever getting over that.

Then, during a few years of marriage, my husband kept doing the exact same thing to me. He thought it was hilarious, but I’d literally be sitting there crying because I couldn't handle it. After a while, the laughter just turns into straight-up sobbing.
He wouldn't stop until I finally had to lay him out.

Totally terrifying!!!
