Argh, why does it have to be on a Thursday?! I don't care—I'm going, even if I end up looking like a total wreck at work the next morning.

But what’s the point if nobody else has even heard of it? There has to be a way to actually make these films accessible to people...
Sure, but Hollywood isn't going to waste their marketing budget on stuff like that. They're going to push their blockbusters because, let's face it, they're much easier to churn out than something like "Paradise Child." Why? Because it's a lot simpler to hand $100 million to a director to follow a proven formula that guarantees a return rather than trying to manufacture a masterpiece. You can't just order a masterpiece off a menu, can you?

Look, we could have gone that route if we wanted to. 😳 😳 My brain is running at about two miles per hour today, so I didn't think of that solution right away, but there’s really no point anyway. You don't exactly need a supercomputer to figure out whether more people are rooting for Monaco or Porto. 😁
First thing I'd do is put on "Waiting for my man" by Velvet Underground. So, what's the deal? Fifteen minutes and absolutely nothing has happened. Seriously. I'm just looking to drop "Pixies" - "Gouge away." Honestly, I’d probably just let some bouncers loose in the hall to let everyone know the party is officially over. Maybe then people would actually think twice before showing up to dance to some anonymous DJ who nobody has even heard of. 😁

I'm getting senile 😳 😁
Personally, I preferred Monaco. Porto just felt like they were dragging their feet the whole time. They managed to scrape past Manchester United only because they switched to a defensive shell. Then they ran into Lyon, which was easily one of the easiest matchups they could have faced. In the end, they took down Deportivo, though that was only after some pretty questionable, unsportsmanlike behavior on their part.
Douglas Edwards2 said:Hey mods, can we get a poll going? Porto vs. Monaco? Thanks.
From a technical standpoint, it’s kind of a pain because they'd have to scrap this whole thread just to start a fresh one from scratch.🤔 But honestly, does anyone even need a poll? Why not just let everyone jump in here, drop their take, and actually explain why they think what they think? It's probably better that way anyway.🙂
Word on the street is that the US gave up its broadcasting rights for the soccer matches in Portugal just to scrape together enough cash to send our national hero, Mary Stampuljagović, to the World Radiator Championship in Nepal alongside his chosen companion, a snail named brat.
Anyway, there's a new movie out from Monty Python. I caught a bit about it in The New York Times, and apparently, it’s just about some guy sitting on his couch drinking a beer—honestly, sounds good enough for me. 😁 Anyway, has anyone actually seen it yet? Is it any good? Or is it total garbage?

Aside from the handful of us who consider them one of the greatest bands of all time, nobody in America has ever heard of them, let alone cares. You can try to sell tickets all day long, but it won't change reality.
shadowmarlin15, this Pixies show is going to get media coverage. There’s already an article about them in the morning papers. And if the media manages to convince people to line up for "Surfer Rosa," they’ll convince them to go see the Pixies too. Someone will read something about the concert, decide it looks cool, realize they have some extra cash lying around, and just go. It’s not going to be just the die-hard fans showing up.
Adam Mendoza8 said:So you're basically 18 right now? Well, hello there! Suddenly I have a legitimate excuse to head over to Vienna for the Pixies show. Whatever.
It’s pretty ridiculous when you think about it—having to shell out cash $60 just to travel all the way to Austria just to get a look at something. 😁
As for that whole thing with Iron Maiden, I’m pretty sure it’s total nonsense, but man, wouldn't it be wild if it actually turned out to be true? 😁
When you walk into a movie expecting absolutely nothing and just set all your preconceptions aside, it actually turns out to be pretty decent. There were some solid jokes, I managed to relax, had a good laugh, and honestly, I can't say I felt like I threw my money down the drain.
Obviously, it doesn't quite hit that specific dry British humor vibe, but anyone walking into Scary Movie 3 expecting some kind of cinematic masterpiece is being incredibly naive. Don't go looking for miracles and you'll be just fine.
So, I picked up this DVD and gave it to a friend—it’s "Chicago," so honestly, I couldn't care less about the movie itself. But man, what a total disaster. We get there, I buy my ticket, and then I ask what kind of special perks they have for couples, only for the woman behind the counter to shove the DVD in my face. Absolutely ridiculous. 😁
