I bet one of those hundred idiots didn't even know who Bush was—and another probably thought some landmark in NYC was just as important as this lady up there. These "ethical journalists" are real pros, huh? Writing a total trash piece just to bash young people. If they were actually the standard for morality, then all of us with a degree from Harvard Business School should be embarrassed—not to mention those poor souls who actually sat through that testing.
Look, I finished at Harvard Business School and met a ton of people there—honestly, I can't wrap my head around how any of them wouldn't know the answers to the stuff in these articles. It’s basic general knowledge, let alone those "expert" questions about accounts.
And besides—the text doesn't even specify which business schools we're talking about here. Are these those fancy Ivy League management programs or just standard state universities?
Honestly, no University actually teaches you how to be a well-rounded person—they should be pushing students to go out and educate themselves, but that’s the real flaw in our education system. It lets you pass exams just by memorizing a few definitions, and frankly, some professors actually encourage that kind of rote learning. I'm speaking from experience here—I caught a ton of lower grades because I wouldn't just recite a textbook definition word-for-word. Instead, I actually tried to understand the material—always looking for real-world examples and extra context. I could write pages of analysis for an exam and still walk away with a C because the professor thought I was "overthinking" instead of giving the exact answer they wanted. Look, I never gave a damn about the GPA anyway. I left school with a massive amount of theoretical knowledge—some useful, some not—for the job I do now, and honestly? I’ve never found anything I learned to be useless. You can never have too much knowledge.
Look, I didn't hit up University thinking I'd walk out with a plug-and-play job manual—that's not how this works. A University is supposed to teach you how to actually think, not just act like some trade school. So yeah, I finished my degree with pretty much everything I wanted to get out of it. In the real world, I’ve never seen a gap in my skills because of my education—if anything, the "gap" is caused *by* the education. Honestly, I can't tell you how many times at school I'd drop something in conversation like, "Oh, I read about that in a study" or "I saw this in a book." I wasn't some genius or anything—just your average student who spent just as much time hitting the social scene as I did sitting in lectures—so I don't get why everyone's whining about "unprepared graduates."
I went through like 5 or 6 serious job assessments—always getting called back for interviews, too—but I never saw a single damn result until my last one. That was the one where I finally landed a role in my field. After grinding through a year of internship stuff, they actually showed me the scores and offered me a full-time position... honestly, they shouldn't be ashamed of those results—if anything, they should brag about them.
I was throwing my resume at companies I actually cared about—even when they didn't have openings posted—and guess what? It worked. Ended up landing a job where there wasn't even an official listing; they just pulled me straight from their "talent pool."
I’ve sent my resume over to Ernst & Young—specifically where this lady works—maybe two or three times now. Every single time, I hit every single qualification they asked for, yet nothing. Not even a "thanks but no thanks" canned email—just total radio silence. Their hiring criteria are a joke if they're letting people pass tests with results like that. Definitely adding them to my blacklist of places I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.
You make a great point about how they basically ran a research study under the guise of recruitment testing. Did you happen to graduate from Harvard Business School or something? 😬
OT: Personally, even more interesting than the sheer lack of knowledge is the number of people who actually walked away from the test. Talk about some bold moves. 🙏 🙏 🙏
It’s honestly a decent enough flick if you're just looking for something casual to throw on this weekend. Plenty of action, plenty of Monica... 👍not bad at all!
The other day, that movie crossed my mind again... so I thought I'd ask you all to share your thoughts on it. Armageddon came out back in 1998. I've seen it a few times myself, and for some reason, it just stuck in my brain and won't let go. I'm not entirely sure how to categorize it... maybe somewhere between an action flick and a disaster movie, but I wouldn't call it pure sci-fi. Most people seem to see it that way, though. It's about this asteroid—roughly the size of a small country—heading straight for the US, and obviously, they HAVE to stop it. From start to finish, the tension is constant and the action is nonstop... and I love that. Maybe some of you haven't seen it, but I suspect most of you have. So, tell me what you think: favorite scene, best actor, etc...
Just to add a little context here: that asteroid is actually "the size of Texas." In this context, one "Texas" is basically the unit used for asteroids on a collision course with the US.
As for the best scenes and actors... honestly, there's not much to think about—the best parts are definitely all the scenes with Liv Tyler. 😍 I mean, watching her deal with that random Ben Affleck was a bit rough, but hey, I've seen worse. At the end of the day, Liv Tyler = 🙂 😍

Just ninety minutes of non-stop action, a totally mindless plot, and Scarlett Johansson taking down zombies? That sounds like a blast at the theater to me!

People in their THIRTIES? Yuck! Honestly, we just need everything to be like 😬Logan's Run.

So, I went down a rabbit hole online, taking tests and reading up on it, only to realize... nope, that's not me at all! I even thought maybe I was depressed for a while, but even that didn't quite fit. I mean, sure, there are bits and pieces, but I'm nowhere near that level.
Honestly, you're lucky Equi is the moderator here. If I were in charge, I would've shut this thread down after your very first reply—mostly because that would be the second reason to kill it. The first reason? Your question just doesn't make any sense. Besides locking the thread, I’d probably point you toward the stickied post explaining how to actually frame a quality question and present a problem properly. Then, I’d toss you a ban just to keep you from whining even more. Ah, those were the good old days. 😁
Can we please do something about these massive user signatures? There’s a whole gang of people out here with signatures stretching ten lines deep—it looks absolutely terrible. Can we just set a limit at six lines, or even five? This place is becoming a total mess!

I can't wait until I'm officially retired and some idiot decides to go out and make a remake of Terminator 2. Why do they insist on totally screwing over remakes instead of actually fixing the bad movies? Like, imagine if they did Pearl Harbor the right way; or let the aliens finally wipe out everything on Earth instead of having Will Smith hack them with an Apple laptop—or if they filmed Troy without making Achilles look like some innocent bystander. That's just my first thought, there's plenty more where that came from! Instead, they just go and ruin perfectly good classics... and then have the nerve to post SPOILERS for them. Helloooooo?
At this point, you really have to wonder if he’s even capable of making a round picture—or if he’s just stuck making little quarter-sections forever. 😁

If you're that hung up on it, why don't you call your old teachers or your parents for help? This constant bickering on a tech forum isn't getting us anywhere. We're here to actually help each other out, not just tear each other down in some tiny town in the Midwest just because you care more about grammar than making sure these computers actually work without crashing. If this isn't enough for you, tell me: are you here for the actual help, or just to obsess over a period at the end of a sentence? If you want the real stuff, let's get to work—but if you just want to play professor, maybe head back to class.
